Normal Friday for me. Take George to bed and read him a story and put the hairdryer sound on his IPad. Then go downstairs and drink copious amounts of Cider. With it being New Year I'll have a couple of pink gins. Laura will no doubt go to bed early because she doesn't do New Year and I'll stay downstairs on the sofa watching whatever's on tv until I get bored and go to sleep (I snore more after a drink).
Not bothered going out since my 20's,can't do with fighting to get served. Its my birthday New Years day though, so usually just have a couple of drinks with the immediate family and 'see in' the new year and my birthday simultaneously!
Me neither. When me and Laura go out. She's "Oh look that pub looks lively lets go in there". I'm going "let's not I hate not being able to get served". Laura wins out in the end. I'm the one who looks like a miserable alco sat at the table with two pints because it's taken me ages to get served.
Always enjoy NY eve in the local pub, seeing people I probably haven’t seen since previous year. (Pre-Covid) Having always lived closely to where I was born and bred I see people who I’ve known since early childhood. Nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia once a year. I don’t get drunk as it’s my youngest’s birthday on NY Day and we’ll be celebrating then. Really looking forward to tonight.
Not celebrated it for years! Bars too packed for me. Then there's the old chimes, after which there's normally a punch up somewhere along the street. Night in for me, although the mother in law has invited herself round for a whine!
Please don't mention season tickets!!! Funnily enough they used to do loyalty discount cards, like several restaurants. I had one, but after several visits I realised I was spending more with the discount than previously without it. To get the discount you had to order 2 starters and 2 mains, then one of the mains was free. However, we don't usually bother with starters as we get too full, so we were ordering them for about £10 to get about £9 off for the free main! Even the owner there laughed about it and said he'd noticed we were spending more since we got the discount card
I used to love it, we’d go to the local where the landlord/lady gave all the regulars a free ticket to all its regulars for their New Years do, they’d put on a free Buffett and glass of fizz as a thank you, we’d all turn up in fancy dress, it was a brilliant night, but since it closed (and became a small housing estate) we tend to stay in now,
Oh don’t get me started on the Tooth Fairy! Once failed to leave £ under my daughter’s pillow. There was all hell to pay in the morning. Had to make excuses on Tooth Fairy’s behalf. Cost me an arm and a leg!!
Was thinking of doing a bit of ‘first footing' tonight. But being down south I imagine folk would phone the police about a northern monkey trying to break their house with lumps of coal.
Don’t mind the Hogmanay celebrating with friends but tbh I’ve not been out the past couple of years. Obviously Covid has had a say on this also my Grand Daughters being of an age they are permitted to stay up for the Bells and enjoy the celebrations. So once again this year I’ll be sober and drive over and First Foot my son daughter in law and the girls. New Years mornings have been hangover free for a while now
