BMBC don’t own much of the land up there and most of it is pretty much developed, or has plans to be.

The Barnsley West development site would be a better location.

I thought the vast majority of that had been taken up as residential? 4 massive residential plots last time I saw, not a lot of space left for a stadium.

The top end (adjacent to the motorway) is reserved for numerous warehouses so they could easily be replaced.

Have we all accepted a move then? It seems like that. Will we do the same with the NHS when it's said to be beyond repair? Scrap, it, let's use the American model.

It was tongue in cheek tbh , the op was leading us to Birdwell and I wrongly thought Hoyland would bring a smile .

If I was to look for a site for a new ground I would look towards Wakefield side not Sheffield side. More chance of increasing the number of supporters.

I got it. And it had the desired effect.

The problem with any out of town site would be the rail or tramway infrastructure required. Not everyone travels by car.

Forget about houses. Plough the pitch and grow cabbages. You're bound to get one or two that could slot straight in and strengthen our midfield.

Would BMBC be really happy with an out of town stadium that would affect the Town Centre trade, particularly after the recent refurb?

Anything would be better than the leeks we're currently seeing.

Surely right in the centre of town by the train and bus stations has the best chance of increasing support or am I missing something

The Gala bingo site would be ideal ...... but I'm at it now. I'd rather stay exactly where we are now thank you.

o/t - has the proposed large housing development on the land between the Chestnut Tree Redbrook and Upper Higham come to a halt because the land has a lot of old mineshafts which were never capped off ??

Money talks. Rest assured the problems will be overcome. BMBC and the developers have too much at stake.

Hypothetically…. I’d buy morrisons off west way, there’s plenty of space to build a stadium…the initial cost might eat into the profit situation though

no requirement for a car park. Park in the town centre or offer free buses/trains 12pm - 7pm with a match ticket

This would only work if they built the houses themselves though.

You wouldn't have 100m though as you have to build them and the profit margin on a house is probably less than you'd imagine especially when you take in to account the contributions now required for additional local infrastructure like schools, GPs etc required by the local authority for these sort of schemes. Talking to someone going through a similar project recently it's not the cash cow cow it maybe once was.

The other problem of course is the club dont own the land and aren't there also issues on the land to do with contamination of some sort?
