I haven't had a season ticket for two seasons. I didn't buy in 2020-21 as I knew we would be unable to attend. The current owners are here to make a profit out of the club, so there was no way I was propping up their investment during a period when I could not receive anything in return. It was literally putting money directly in their pocket. If you invest in a business with the sole intention of making profit, you don't then ask customers to continue to pay you, and offer no product or service in return. You suck up the hard times. The marketing of BFC during that period disgusted me. Then in early 2021 it came to light on this BBS that the board had taken three quarters of a million pounds out of the club. And they continued to lie that they'd never taken money out of the club. I will never again attend while they are in charge. I am two years into this. I am not funding a consortium of business men and women while they profit on the demise of our football team.
Love everything to do with Tarn; countryside, history, villages etc etc.... but these days i have moments where i really can't stand football. It's not the game i grew up with - that went out the window when Sky got it's greasy mitts on the sport!
No. You can only get behind the club if you are on the same page. I am bemused as to what we’re getting behind at the present. Are we urging the club on to sell players and make some brass for their back pockets ? That seems to be the case so I’m out.
At the moment, no. However, a team showing some grit, fight and passion during the second half of the season might tempt me to renew, regardless of wether we are relegated or not. If we go down with a whimper then it would take a very generous discount on this years season ticket to even contemplate renewing.
100% agree with this. I used to buy two season tickets and attend about five or six matches a season right up to the end of Patrick’s tenure. Even though financially it made no sense it felt like putting a small investment in our club. Patrick, a wealthy man by most standards, was using his own money to prop up the club. The arrival of the international billionaires ended my own purchase of season tickets. I would pay game by game but I have no intention of funding billionaires to make a profit. The use of roughly 3000 season tickets sales last year to pay down debt not even owed by the club was an absolute joke. But hey that’s ok.
Doubt we will renew. I've only had the financial means to buy a season ticket in the last 10 years but I doubt I'll bother next year. Only positive of going is to see my Dad - might as well stay at home and watch on TV. Cheaper and better beer at home.
It is going to be pretty boring on here next season with only a few of us actually attending the matches & being able to comment on what we have seen , with so many turning their backs on the club which I fully understand it will be the players who suffer with reduced backing but hey ho it what it is & there is always brexit & politics to talk about.
If we get relegated this season Il be honest I won’t watch much of Barnsley next season, seriously sick of the lack of ambition and constantly bouncing from league one to the championship without ever really attempting to secure ourselves as a stable second tier side for about 15 years, I know financially we’re not as strong as a lot of the championship teams but you have to draw a line after the success of last season and say if we don’t build now…will we actually ever?
I also watch every away game by stream but to me the team needs the fans behind them at Oakwell, although it is hard work this season plus you obviously you see a lot more at the game than you do when a producer decides what camera view you get & if no one went then the club would simply fold .
I get the argument for me football was always an escape a way to reconnect with childhood and family and friends now it feels like a chore. Maybe things will change but I can’t see it atm.
I’ve voted no. There is time for that to change - but I doubt it will. Being in League One is not a factor, I’ve renewed for seasons there in the past. My decision isn’t based on us having a poor on field season. I’ve said enough about my thoughts on where the club is on other threads. I can’t support that.
I will renew. when I give it up it will not be down to the performance of the team, it will be because I will be unwilling/unable to drive 330 miles round trip in the winter months.
