Well unckeae advice from the government who'd have thunk it? When Bozo gets his Knighthood hopefully he's in Porridge at the time because he should be!
We had PCR tests at a walk-in centre yesterday, both still positive unfortunately. Looks like we'll be in isolation for the full 10 days (Thursday 6th).
Bad news. I'm sure there are lots of false positives, but no way of proving one way or another. Not like you can do a best of 3.
Where does this "10 days" come from anyway. Does covid miraculously disappear at that point.... Actually, I don't want to know. I've purposely not had the news on TV for 5 consecutive days at least. And I feel 100 times better for it I've had enough of everything covid now
You are not meant to be infectious after 5 days. Symptoms can last for weeks, as they did for me, but you are not infectious.
That's what I heard, but when do the 5 days start? Obviously not at the end of your symptoms, so is it from infection? If so it begs the question, how do you know when you were infected? Is it 5 days from the first symptoms - if so what about the lucky ones that have no symptoms? Could it be 5 days after your first positive PCR or LFT? I really don't know. What I do know is that both Anne and I are fully recovered but face another 5 days of being stuck in the house....
The rule is from the date of symptoms starting. By that stage you would normally have been infected & infectious for 2-3 days typically. This is why it is a minefield & discussions are ongoing. Initially it was clearly all about playing it safe, but that policy is striping us of key workers & shutting down all our lives. I'm not qualified to give an opinion, I've just been following the ongoing discussion.
My wife and step son are both positive and have named me as a test and trace contact. I am doing daily tests and am still showing negative, although not quite sure how. Anyway, I got an email from test and trace telling me I have to isolate until 8 Jan "unless exempt" but my understanding is that this is not the requirement if you are fully vaccinated. I looked it up to be sure. Is this what they mean by "unless exempt" Bloody confusing?
Having had two vaccines counts as exempt, as does being under 18 years 6 months, taking part in a Covid trial or if you unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons. Exempt people over the age of 5 are ‘strongly advised’ to take LFTs for 7 days.
I have covid for the second time. By the way its completely different to the strain circulating September Oct 20. Much more like a bad cold or flu. I was contacted by test and trace yesterday and they confirmed that you have 2 choices. Basically you can sit out your 10 days from declared initial symptoms. Or if you are feeling better ie no temperature etc. You can do a LF test on both the 6th and 7th day of isolation and if they are both negative you are allowed out of isolation. I hope this helps.
Thanks for confirming. I thought that was the case. I'll be good and keep testing, but for now I am symptom free.
I wouldn't say too unpleasant - I am thinking of going forth to Ladybower Res tomorrow to make a bit of use of one of my last days off, before doing my next test when I get back. So I get out, but keep my contacts to a min. If anyone else is heading for the Rivelin Valley area, steer clear of the bald middle aged bloke.
Covids been proved to live on in the gut for over a month (think it was about 43 days) so watch out for the covid farts and the rest from down there. Thats prob why toilets are hot spots for spreading. Wonder if we have any pro maskers going commando?
