Slightly puzzled that, during a period when COVID is spreading more quickly than at any time in the last two years, the Club have taken the decision to put all the home fans in one stand for Saturday’s game.Thereby hugely increasing the risk of infection.

It doesn’t take much for me to criticise the CEO in his running of the Club at the moment but in the interests of balance I’d be interested in any reasons for this approach.

Don’t bother responding if you think the answer is, ‘saving a few quid on running costs is more important than the health and safety of the fans’ because, in the absence of a more reasonable answer, that is the default.

I will contact the Club with the same question but thought it might have already been asked/answered.

I think that they'll be able to keep a 2m distance between home fans on Saturday even with just one stand open with the amount of people saying they're not going.

yes it seems a poor decision in light of the latest varient spreading easily , if its a nice afternoon and other events are postponed , i can see a lot of fans attending .

Even if there was a sudden heatwave I'd be amazed if as many as 5k attended on Saturday.
As it is, heavy rain is the forecast and the gate could well be nearer 3k.

Sadly a peep at what the future under these owners will start to look like.

It's giving more fans chance to sample the Lebanese flat bread and non alcoholic lager. It'll be hazardous because more people will be running for the bog at half-time.

On the plus side (for you) everyone attending still has to show a vaccine passport even though the crowd will be nowhere near the 10,000 it has to be to need one.

That is the answer (as far as the club is concerned) though...

To be honest there is a good chance that we will have approx 3 to 4 thousand fans using the stand which still provide plenty of space ,because if we are saying that it is not then what are we supposed to do against Stoke when we will have double that amount in the stand, are we going to ask for the game to be cancelled because we do not have enough space ? & before anyone jumps down my throat & says that I am sticking up for the owners then you are wrong I am not, I am simply looking from a common sense point of view, if we are saying it is not safe against Barrow then we are setting a precedence and deeming that the stand is not safe for all our league games .

Isn't the difference that all our fans will be forcibly crowed into one stand for the Barrow game but have access to three stands for the other games?

Surely not? With 2 stands fully closed and North Stand at least half closed, available capacity must be below 10k
Edit sorry just seen official statement

I must be mis understanding , I thought the initial post was highlighting space for covid safety unless I have read it wrong , all I am saying is that there will only be half as many fans in the East stand on saturday than there will be at our next league match , so if it is not safe against Barrow then it will be definitely unsafe against Stoke , the OP points out that it is a greater risk of infection but being as we all know even with all our fans in there it is still a smaller risk than at a league match .

That is all it is saving money they don't have to put stewards on ponty end if it is closed. We have seen the useless CEO with his west stand fiasco. The club is in freefall and won't stop till the useless sods running it ,go

They've been irresponsible in this respect all season. They will hide behind the open air aspect making it safer when in your seat - although I would argue that depends how full it is and what the people around you are doing - but there's no consideration being given to numbers underneath the stand before during and after matches. The one mitigating factor for some on Saturday, is the East Lower concourse must be the draughtiest in the entire league.

Barrow in furness has currently got the highest infection rate in the country at 2755 cases per 100000. Hopefully the wind is blowing away from the east stand on Saturday!

I imagine a lot of our fans couldn't care less if they get infected or not. They will be the sort who logged out of COVID on so called 'freedom day' or after their second jab. I care though for the sake of others who they pass it on to.
