Since the euphoria of last season and the performance downturn of the team from day one of this season the slagging off of the players has been off the scale. I have no problem with the criticism of a coaches tactics or justified criticism per se. What I can’t understand is blackguarding players with comments like he’s “f*****g sh**e” or any other foul mouthed epithet. Seriously, what is the point? What purpose does it serve? Do people think it will make them better players, motivate or restore confidence? even if they read the stuff on here, it won’t. The players we have are the hand we’ve been dealt, there are no alternatives to play what we have. I’m sure they don’t go out with the intention of being f*****g lovely personp. I understand fans frustration and disappointment and their need to vent their spleen which is justifiable, but really what is the point of calling a player f*****g s***e. The criticism would arguably be more justified if directed towards the owners, the business plan and recruitment policy.
No doubt, I fully expect to get accusations of being woke or soft,if that’s what others think so be it.

I think it’s now when we have to get behind lads and see if we help them save our season even if it’s beyond hope to many. I personally wouldn’t want some on here in trenches with me cos they quitters, moaners and bellyachers to put it mildly......probably most who moan don’t go and just watch on dodgy stick/box or stream......I want to watch us in championship next season not League 1 and I think now is the time to show genuine support to help that happen.......not just come on here grumbling about everything and everyone.........come on lads n lasses, GET BEHIND EM!!!!!!!.........there’s been far worse at Oakwell than being in championship I assure you all of that, a reckon 50 years of watching gives me reason to say that......no I am not a so called happy clapper or however it’s termed these days......COYR!!!!

Totally agree. Reasoned criticism fine, personal abuse mindless and offensive.

I've only been to one game this season, so can only base this on that one game. Hull at home. But there was a bloke in the Ponty, and it was when we had conceded and the players' heads had gone down, and a misplaced pass went past Woodrow.. The Ponty was silent, and the bloke leaned forward suddenly without warning and unleashed a foul-mouthed tirade.. 'Woodrooooow' blah blah blah. 'Fckn fckn fckn.' You get the picture. It actually made me laugh out loud, the ridiculousness of the ferocity of the verbal attack, directed at nobody else but Woodrow. It's like he had been waiting the entire game to unleash it. It was undoubtedly heart attack-inducing stuff. The anger was palpable but way over the top. I have no doubt the bloke woke up that morning and the first thought he had was Woodrow, and that he is responsible for the current state of affairs and that this bloke was going to let him know about it later on at the match. And I've no doubt he does it at most, if not every, game. Sad really, because as you say, how is that going to help his confidence, which is shot to pieces? How would it help any player's confidence?

I always say people pay their hard-earned and have a right to voice their discontent, but when it's repeatedly directed at the same player(s), it becomes personal and, often, goes beyond the logical; a repeated, highly emotional (counterproductive) response to events on the pitch rather than a considered, rational one.

I get your point but there are quite a few who’ve not showed much heart for the battle and that’s what I can’t forgive.
If they aren’t good enough then so be it but if the effort isn’t there then the criticism will come.
I’m not going to name names as most people know who I’m referring to and which area of the field.

I’m not talking of legitimate criticism for ‘lack of effort’. Lack of effort is down to confidence being shot to pieces. I’m talking of foul mouth abuse directed at individual players that just saps confidence further.

It’s down to pure frustration that boils over with some people. I agree it doesn’t help but sometimes can be understood.

Agree. One of our few quality players Woodrow is being pretty much hounded out.
