A think you need to have a little think about your posts in this thread, irrespective of skin colour the kids getting stabbed are someone’s child.....knife crime is a big issue and it’s good to see someone trying to change that

Same with me and a lot of my friends growing up - we carried pocket knives or pen knives but never crossed our mind to stab anyone. Whittled plenty of wood but never thought of using it on anyone else

But in 20/21 they wore this little beauty as their away kit!

The pattern was described as "BLOOD SPLATTER!!!"

Just pointing it out the unfortunate irony of it, that's all.

    True, sir,

But let's not hide the fact that's a cultural issue

Well it seems very odd to me that you don’t see the obvious usefulness of a blade in construction. I take it those plastic panels just cut themselves. Or you’ve never had to do any wiring.? I’m also talking a lot longer ago than 20 years. Maybe they all carry freaking laser beams now?

So what in your weird way are you implying?

Different to carrying one for work and just in general though.

In your opinion. If that’s the case why are there so many Swiss Army knives that fit in your wallet shaped like a card, or a pen.

If you are that way inclined, they can be a useful tool to have in your person. Until now that is, because they have been rebranded into killing tools. I’m not talking a Rambo style knife ffs.

A doctor tends to find a stethoscope useful at work but they don't walk round the streets with them just in case

Now you’re being a tool. As a fixer of many things and being quite adept at many aspects of construction. It is useful in many aspects of life.

A stethoscope as your silly response fails to work, is a specialist piece of equipment for a very well trained individual.

A think you initial post implied that you take it to Asda and to the chippy, that’s the bit I though was odd, I’ve many uses for a knife but wouldn’t think to add it to my list of phone, keys and wallet as things I need to take out on a daily basis

I think you misread my initial post. I said as a kid… about 30 odd years ago I used to have one. And yes I did have one on me loads. I also explained that it never crossed my mind to stick it in anyone, in fact the opposite… myself and my friends were very careful with them.

I had one on me more recently like the one in the picture. I found useful on numerous occasions. What I find odd is the modern perception of it… Image1641762593.263291.jpg

Tbh, I doubt that's the kind of knife these kids are carrying around. I watched a very sad episode of 24 hours in police custody where a youngster ended up dead because he showed he was carrying a knife. The culture needs to change.

I guess you’re right, however they are still knives, and could still kill.

My point was that the culture when I was growing up was that they weren’t seen as weapons. But were seen as a useful tool.

Although there is a more prevalent violence in youth culture nowadays.

I'm not so sure there is gangs in the 50s/60s, football hooliganism in the 70s/80s for eg.

Knife crime rose when support was scrapped. There wasn’t a point where we just decided to scrap harsh sentences for carrying a knife that led kids to think it’d be ok.

Frankly I’m a bit disappointed that you turn into a DM reading reactionary ‘dad’ sometimes.
