I don't know what I expected to be honest, I guess I just assumed the no's would be a lot higher as figs show about 14m infections from a population of 68m.

Apparently it looks as if the common cold can offer some immunity from it. Scientists reckon this may explain why I could catch it and share a bed with Laura and her not catch it and vice versa.

I tested positive on Christmas Day, I had a sore throat for a few days then a mild cold,

I went for "Yes, but never felt a thing" which is not quite right, I had a very mild cough and felt a bit more tired than normal for a day. Had I had these symptoms before the pandemic, I wouldn't have had any time off work.

If you’ve taken lateral flow tests that’s fair enough. You made it sound like you’d just assumed it was a cold and carried on regardless.

Thankfully it's a no here. We've had a few tests between us over the last 18 months, generally a few days before we've been to visit parents just to be as sure as possible.

It feels like everyone I know has had it the last few weeks though, in numerous places too, not just a certain town or city. So I'm a little surprised the number of no's are as high as they are (though its a very small population so has high scope for skew).

Thankfully it's only the one who has been in hospital with it and thankfully they are able to tell the tale.

    I have it now.

Had symptoms since Wednesday. Heavy cold, a fever that comes and goes, and a loss of taste and smell but bizarrely only at night at first.

Thought I was past the worst yesterday, and I’d worked from home throughout - but I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been hit by a train; struggling to catch my breath; a weird, sort of itching in my gums, and no sense of taste or smell whatsoever. I haven’t logged in today and went back to bed.

Positive lateral flow was Wednesday, ordered a PCR to home straight away (Wednesday morning there were no test sites in the whole of England with any), received it and sent it back Friday. Still no result, Royal Mail tracker tells me it got there Saturday. Can’t ring them until it’s been six days.

Sort of in limbo. Today is day six so if I return a negative lateral flow test today and tomorrow the new guidance says I can stop isolating - though technically I don’t actually know for certain I’ve got it.

It’s not pleasant, not by a long shot. But I’ve been more poorly with bad colds and definitely when I had full blown flu years ago, that had me in bed nearly a fortnight and nearly in hospital. The loss of taste and smell isn’t nice though, I hope that doesn’t last as long as it does for some.

    Never had it.

Wife works in a hospital, I work for the council with about 200 people in the same place. Can't believe it to be honest.

And yes, I've probably jinxed us both now.

    I don't know!

I've never tested positive but would be astounded if I haven't - my guess is that I probably had it early on, with few symptoms.

Ive had it since NYD. It was pretty bad the first couple of days, eased off for a few, then returned with a vengeance over this past weekend. If when you wake up usually, you’d say your energy levels are at about 75% and with a good breakfast, you’re close to full fitness, then with this virus, I’d say I wake up at 1%. Soon as I eat, I feel like a million dollars for an hour. Then, I feel horrendously knackered again, it’s proper strange. So I’m eating a lot!

Not many symptoms really. Severe headaches, severe muscle aches generally but other than that, I’m fine. No cough, no sore throat. Just this perpetual tiredness.

In terms of LFT, both mine and the missus’ were positive on NYD. But my PCR came back positive (four day wait in the post) and hers negative.

    Confusing old time.

Back in the office in a couple of days.

Gaynor’s LFT were showing negative but she took a PCR (her work insisted on her taking one with me having it) and it came back positive, confusing times indeed mate.

I've had it twice, that I know of. The first time, back in 2020; I had the usual aches, cough, cold sweats and a shortness of breath that lasted for about a week. I had it again a few months ago, although I wouldn't have even known if not for a test that I was required to do for work. No symptoms whatsoever.

Had it November 2020. Only lost my taste and smell and fortunately wasn't ill at all.

My mate who's a fitness freak and in much better shape than me (same age) ended up in hospital with it.

The Wife (tripple jabbed) caught it at work on the 30th December (hospital) luckily for me she had been working nights on the 4 days before then so I'd had no contact with her really and I've still never had it. She is still testing positive today with no symptoms to speak of, but complaining of feeling light headed a couple of times yesterday and today. She just felt like she had a bit of a cold last week with it. I've let her out of the bedroom as I understand that unless you have coughing/vomiting symptoms you are no longer infectious after 10 days even with positive LFTs.

Tbf at the time cold symptoms weren't given as a need to test, it was temperature, continuous cough and loss of taste and smell.
