I believe that the terminally offended who churn out this nonsense are a bigger impediment to real social change then the ruling classes. Companies love this stuff, they can be as inclusive and woke as is demanded because none of it ever threatens the economic hegemony of the late capitalist model, and gives them the veneer of respectability while they continue to rape the planet and keep the mass of people under the boot.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Mini gems makes them sound way nicer than they taste. As a kid I’d have definitely loved the name.

Both were changed to match the global name of the same product.
Similarly Twix was called Raider in Europe until around same time too.

All the classic car owners are now terrified that their MG Midgets may have to now be referred to as Minis.

Spot on. We should just call any product by an alpha numeric label. e.g Midget Gems could be L34. cheese and onion crisps could be K68. Then when all the dust settles people will realise its not really important in the big scheme of things but will also find it difficult to find their favourite products and wonder why the companies that produce these things always seem to make them smaller while still making big profits
