I loved the original Dexter but like most people I thought the ending was terrible and not worthy of the character so I was really looking forward to the one season reboot intended to give Dexter the ending he deserved.

I haven't been this disappointed since I last stepped foot inside oakwell!

Harrison was such a horrible dislikeable character, plot holes galore, characters brought in and then completely forgotten about (which is impressive within 10 episodes), it felt rushed, it contained pretty key inaccuracies from the original series (Dexter was very clear in the original series that he never used ketamin yet the finale of new blood stated that ketamin was a link to the bay harbor butcher which it couldn't have been) it teased a return from Batista and then failed to deliver, Batista having Dexter's file 10 years later in his top drawer at home despite being certain that Dexter had done nothing wrong, and it just seemed absolutely piss poor. Having Harrison kill Dexter in order to stop him from going down the path of killing made no sense. How would having him kill someone stop him becoming a killer? After 9 seasons having dexter suddenly break the code which was key to the whole series by killing the innocent school coach just didn't fit with the whole ethos of Dexter at all. The only saving grace was the excellent acting from Michael C Hall as usual

 

I may be completely wrong but if you mean keep the franchise going in the way I think you do then they've claimed that they 100% won't be doing that and that it is indeed the end. If that's the case then the ending is even poorer.

I don't think this is a spoiler because it was only a very small detail but did you notice that in one scene near the end you could see a wedding invitation on a desk? It was for Masuka who appears to have finally found a wife. That was a nice little touch, completely random but nice nod to an old character
