In today's Chronicle that players will still come to oakwell because we're not looking on same shelves as Fulham west Brom etc. Does he think that's why we don't do as well as them. He also says it's not his job to find or buy players, maybe not but surely he must have an interest in who comes in and who goes. I am beginning to wonder just what his job is, seeing as Disco has been promoted to stand with him. Personally I think Disco would make a better job on his own at least he is Barnsley through and through
I think devaney was on the touchline for that game due to sheer number of u23s in that matchday squad. I don't think he'll be there going forward, will he?
Didn't sound like that this morning, which just shows he probably doesn't know what his job is. To be honest he doesn't look that good at any
Doesn't matter what he says, can't see him being here for our first game back in League One, don't see how his position can be tenable if we fail to win another league game all season, which we have every prospect of achieving IMHO.
Why would disco be a better coach because "he's Barnsley through and through"Our coach has won a major trophy and led his national under 21/23 to a 13 match undefeated international run.
The headline on the article is potentially a bit of an attention grabber, as the article suggests he's essentially reconfirming the long-standing recruitment strategy. However, I also get the feeling he's starting to show signs of frustration, perhaps in the expectation that there would be some support for him in this window, hence the recent distancing of himself from the transfer activity and speculation regarding it. There's also an element in what he says where I expect he's trying to downplay expectations on transfers, which is actually now quite difficult given that any expectations are pretty much non-existent with half of the transfer window gone already. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...e-young-and-cheap-admits-poya-asbaghi-3527613
Theres a later addition of the YP in which Poya gives a little more detail regarding transfers. It comes under Transfer rethink.
Disco is not Barnsley through & through , he was born in Cheltenham & played for Cheltenham , he played for us for 5 seasons but has played for numerous clubs, however he is popular with the fan base so that will do him no favours with our wonderful owners
I'm reserving judgement with Poya because it wouldn't matter who was in charge and what tactics they employed if the midfield pairing pass to the opposition, pass to the touchline and get turned every time they go near the ball. If you think about it, the team is not doing bad, playing with nine men (based as always on midfielders' current form). Well, the coach could adopt an extreme hoofball tactic, bypassing the midfield entirely, but we know that is off the table. Or they could do the obvious and strengthen the midfield, which is increasingly looking unlikely. But if I was a decent midfielder, not getting a game at my current club, I'd be wanting to come to Barnsley because the potential for a huge impact is there. I genuinely think one impressive midfielder and Barnsley goes from being the worst team in the division to one of the top teams, such is the weak link at the moment.
I reckon we'll sign an u23 midfielder from Penrith and a striker from Romford. 5 year deals. uNdIsCLosEd. Been after them for years, apparently.
Im not confident we’ll sign anyone if I’m honest. Reckon the financial situation is dire. Any signings are likely to be loans and Swedish u21s…..not what we need. Experience costs money that we don’t have. It’s the last window that will relegate us though, not this one.
I disagree, I think a better manager/coach would have made more of an impact. I don't think he's up to the job to be honest.
