Barry Gardiner currently doing his best to take the scrutiny away from the PM and his sycophants.

How could it be otherwise? The majority of people in England read newspapers like The Sun, The Express and The Mail so they have been brainwashed.

Should be expelled from the Labour party with immediate effect if these stories are true. Starmer needs to act fast.

I think it's going to come down to what the security services advice was and and at what time and if Gardiner has failed to act on it. At a glance, it just seems an unfortunate thing. And given some of the sources of funding of the tories, and the very strong whiff of Russian influence, it's particularly nauseating that this is gaining traction and allow a right wing media to take the heat off their man.

I'm not a fan of Starmer generally, but he has been swift to deal with things and I'd expect no less in this instance if there are grounds to do so, and likely highlight that he acts when the PM doesn't.

What it does highlight though is the murk of money coming from a whole host of sources and the implied expectations attached to being in debt to those donations.

I've voted Labour at every election since I was old enough to vote (so 40 years), during that time, I can count on my fingers the number of years when I thought they were close to perfect.

However - there's never been a time, no matter how bad they were, when I'd have effectively voted Tory. Indeed if I were to move tomorrow, and I had to vote Lib Dem to keep a tory out, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I can fully understand people upset at the current state of Labour, but I can't understand not voting for them and allowing the Tories in.

The Gardiner story is over 5 years old. She was also donated £5k to Ed Davey when he was Energy Secretary, and was praised by Theresa May for her work with the British-Chinese community...

Given the Chinese involvement with Hinckley B and 2 other nuclear power stations and other UK infrastructure, I'd say that this is less of a risk than some of the other decisions made at the heart of government.

I've no doubt its an attempted screen for the Downing St debacle.

It's still not a good look for such huge donations to someone who was a bit of a no mark and just so happened to employ the donors son in some nominal role.

    ‘He believed in anti-semitism’

It’s embarrassing that you’ve posted never mind that five people have liked it.

Calling someone an idiot & posting that? Come on. Define irony.

He also didn't want to give the Falklands back did he. He believed in open dialogue with the islanders having a big say in the future of the islands.

And then used the fact that Argentina thought they'd get them back to launch a jingoistic "conflict"

Exactly, I had a time line history of the run up to the war, sadly I lost it in a computer change over and clean up, definitely caused by some very bad political decisions by thatchers mob giving the argentinians the impression that we didn't care about the islands. Sadly as with all bad political decisions that end in war it's the poor brave working class lads and lasses that end up paying the price.

I have a lot of sympathy with this view, but surely if there's one thing 2019 taught us it's that helping the tories get in (Chuka Umuna, the IG, that whatsapp group of Labour staffers) - or even voting for them (the 'red wall' and that absolute scumbag Ian Austin) is the best and quickest way to get exactly the Labour party you want!

As always, I'll wait for the manifesto.

That’s where I am to be honest. Though I was only old enough to vote from the 2001 election.

I’m no longer a paying member of the party. I have some misgivings about them becoming too centrist. But I won’t stop voting for them until it takes a vote elsewhere to prevent a Tory government, and the current one is as bad as any. I’d, probably controversially, say Johnson is harming the working classes as much as Thatcher did - but more dangerously as he’s getting their support in doing it as well. I didn’t live through much of Thatcher though, so I’m judging it on what I’ve learnt - I was only seven when she was deposed.

The whole reason I refuse to get into the problems within Labour is that it’s easy to find fault.
But what’s the payback for that, I’ll start to despise Labour too! Then who do I vote for? How will me voting green or not voting at all keep a decent bloke in the HoC instead of an identikit Tory.

Watching Tory voters tying themselves in knots on tv this morning to defend Johnson, then remembering that millions of ‘socialists’ are contemplating wasting a vote.

Again; Tories will back any leader, lefties will spend eternity arguing amongst themselves. I’m not saying you’re wrong to have a negative opinion, but I am saying only a complete idiot should miss the opportunity of keeping a Tory out.

Meh. He certainly didn't have the political acumen or intelligence to distance himself from anti-semitism claims.

Obviously Corbynista's will say 'but the media', but Labour don't have that tag anymore.
