The same islanders who voted 1,500 odd to 3 to remain as part of the UK in 2013.

Big need for an open dialogue alright.

She was scuppered by removing the navy patrol vessel to save money. The Argentinians took this as an indication that GB had lost interest in the Falkland Islands

No ‘lefty’ will vote for a Starmer led Labour Party. At the risk of going round in circles why should they when they’re not represented by them?

Because - they’re the furthest left we have a chance of a government.

So the choice is a slightly left of centre government or a far right one, I can’t see the dilemma;)

Sorry, but if think this current Labour Party is ‘slightly left of centre’ you’re not paying attention. Anyway, time will tell.

Can you remember when we used to get actual Tories contributing to these threads.

The favourite Schtick around the last election was how us Lefties hated the country. And that only by supporting Brexit and the Tories were you showing any real support for our great country.

So; since the election, those Tories elected because they ‘love the country’ have attacked:
    The Queen
    The NHS
    The Police
    Judges
    Juries
    Lawyers
    The National Trust
    Farmers
    Fishermen
    All small businessmen
    The arts
    The hospitality industry
    The working class
    Unions
    Scotland, Wales, N Ireland
    (we could all go on).

So the question is; What exactly is it about the country that the Tories love? Is it just the National obsession with making sure rich people can get richer with the help of the government?

All my voting life what has always got to me is our FPTP system has always meant that my vote for Labour has felt largely irrelevant.
Now I'm torn because I find it hard to argue with anything you have said here. Vote for whoever has the best chance of keeping the tories out.
I just feel totally demoralised that this is the state of things. Politics is more depressing than the current state of BFC.

I agree that the state of things is completely demoralising. That a vote should be for something, and not to deny something. But those have been the tactics of the right for some time now.

How many times have we been told a vote for labour is a vote for the SNP. Or that it would go further left, or you get communism. Or someone unable to eat a bacon sandwich! And its scared enough people into believing these things and staying with or serving to vote for a set of people who do nothing good with power for the country, but just for themselves or their mates.

I hope enough people are realising this and that the words uttered by that party that have been tested to death only have the intention of getting your vote and not valuing it. But I also hope that people realise just how dangerous the situation is.

That not voting against it carries considerable risk to liberties we've seldom had to worry about before.

My constituency is incredibly safe for labour. The last 2 elections I had a mix of voting for lesser parties or not at all. The next GE, I'l vote labour just to ensure the numbers stay high, even though I'd rather vote Green or Lib Dem.

The only way we have a chance of a future of decency is to start to push back against the lies and deceit and cronyism and gerrymandering and fraud and erosion of laws and human rights. That will involve a mix of things. Not voting conservative to start with. And then voting for the party most able to win in a particular seat.

The best result in 2024 (likeliest) is that its a hung parliament and every other party other than the tories form a coalition or national government.

    More corruption?

What a surprise this would be. This government just keeps on giving with these sort of stories. Unbelievably immoral, pure greed and a complete disgrace yet again...if proven. And yet......lots of people will still vote for 'em and there's still plenty who think Johnson is doing a grand job. You can't make it up can you. The whole barrel stinks to high heaven

And still kier starmer doesn't call
And to be fair to him it was much harder for him to know. While the rest of us could watch the prime minister giving a live statement on BBC on outlining the rules and what you cannot do he was unable to do that because he was in downing Street giving a live statement to BBC one outlining the rules and what you cannot do
