I say this tongue in cheek because we are now I to mid January and no sign of Obbi Oulare. Infact nobody from the club has ever defined just what injury /injuries this guy has. Perhaps the CEO might be able to tell us on the zoom meeting as I have put this question to the club and failing that when(if ever) He may make an appearance on the sacred turf of Oakwell infont of our recently renovated West Stand?

His main affliction appeared to be that he’s carrying 3 stone extra, and is about as mobile as a mini roundabout.

Negligence on all levels, from the actual signing/contract right down to the medical...... I presume he had a medical.

Oulare doesn’t want to play for Barnsley Football Club. I know this as a fact.

Every excuse under the sun. He’s had injuries but nowhere near as much as what is reported. Heard better excuses from the kids not bringing their PE kit at the school I work at.

If this is true(no reason to disbelieve you), I think we’d all have a bit more respect for the Club if either them or the Coach, came out and said something.

To be fair to twillo he always used to get info on signings before they happened etc so most likely true.

Willem II is looking for reinforcements and in the context of that search Willem II is fully committed to the return of an old acquaintance.

People around Tilbo maintain good contact with ex-players and their network and that is why we can inform you that Willem II is fully committed to a temporary return of Obbi Oulare. The tall striker was previously rented out to Willem II and then scored three goals in eleven games. Oulare currently plays for Barnsley and is at a dead end there.

Barnsley has approved a temporary transfer to Willem II and the ball is now in Oulare's court, who must decide whether he sees a return to the Willem II shirt.

His wages and transfer fee will have already cost us a few hundred thousand pounds and we are going to loan him out!!! What a waste of money and why would they want to sign someone with a heart the size of a pea.

We have seemed to have missed out regularly over the past two transfer windows on our top targets and this is presumably because other clubs are making them better offers, so we just cross names out until we get to one who fits the age-cost-spreadsheet data. We missed Fynn Downes in the summer and others. We are now rumoured to be after Jay Fulton from Swansea (good move) and Anthony Scully from Lincoln (excellent move), but you watch us lose out because we won't find a way of attracting them to Oakwell. We had a really strong case in the summer, having got into the play-offs, but still ended up with having to scrape together a deal for Oulare, knowing that he would be unlikely to be fit to play many games. We also had already missed out on the other guy from Watford, who would at least have been fitter. This is a major factor in the cause of our slide - we don't seem to realise that, as we cross off name after name down the top targets list, we end up somewhere around number six/seven without realising that they just aren't up to making the jump from the level they have been playing. Gerhardt Struber accused the club of a lack of ambition when he left and I don't think that he was wrong. We don't need to break the bank to ensure that we bring in the likes of Fulton and Scully, but we do need to be competitive and not just keep crossing names off the list, ending up with an untried youngster from leagues one, or two, or lower. We could be trying, maybe, for Tshimanga (I'll need to check spelling) from Chesterfield as a striker. We could surely afford him and beat off any competition. Struber looks as though he was right. You can't keep making purses out of sows' ears, even if you are a genius coach. Come on, board. You don't need to push the boat too far out to put an offer to Fulton, or Scully which is better than Blackpool, Rotherham.

The thing is, there would have been space to offer somebody a decent contract, and give ourselves a chance. We offered Mowatt a good (for Barnsley) deal, yet when it comes to replacing him we go and sign three strikers, and two academy midfielders.

I don't mind it when we make signings that don't work out, because it happens. But you at least want the transfer windows to make sense, which is what we managed last season, and in January 2020. August 19 and 21 made no sense at all. There's a common denominator in there somewhere...

I wonder what's gone wrong in such a short space of time?

    [In July,to club media]:

Barnsley FC Co-Chairman, Paul Conway, said: “Obbi is a player we have followed closely and we are now delighted to welcome him to Oakwell on a permanent contract after seven months of tough negotiations with Standard Liege. Having played at the highest level in Europe, he arrives with significant experience and will immediately contribute to what is already a very talented squad.

“With pre-season preparations well underway for our upcoming Sky Bet Championship campaign, we look forward to seeing Obbi in action, in front of our supporters, soon.”

Speaking on his move, Oularé is keen to get underway: It’s great to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I will do my best, work hard and hopefully, with the rest of the team, that will bring great results.

“I have been following the results really closely over the last season and I’m hoping to achieve the same, or even better this year. I look forward to meeting the fans. I know about the great atmosphere in the UK and I can’t wait to see them all at Oakwell.”

    [In November, to Yorkshire Post]:
"I am ready for it now (at Barnsley). I have always heard it is the toughest league in the world and having seen it, I agree with it. Every game is tough, but it is nice to be here. I hope I can do well.”

    [In January, BBS]
Twillo said: 'Oulare doesn’t want to play for Barnsley Football Club. I know this as a fact.'

    What a saga!

Was obbi the "experienced" signing fans have been asking for? Played at the highest level? 27 years old?

Why would he want to exert himself at Willem II? He's got a great carry on with us. Just sit on his backside and pick up his tidy salary.
