    1. Stop playing against Australia
    2. Stop playing 20/20 and start playing proper cricket
    3. Err that's all I can think of at the moment.

It's been a common thing for a long while now, I think the 2005 home Ashes win was the start where Vaughan wanted the England players to mingle to remove the auras of invincibility that had built up.

And a few years ago I seem to recall Bairstow and Warner having some sort of fracas.

But in the circumstances, its yet another poor call to do that.

The ECB need a huge reset. I'd be inclined to sweep the lot of them out. Then look at the coaching staff and get a team with a winning mentality and appoint whoever the best english qualifying captain on the county circuit is.

There aren't many players who have come out of this series with much reputation intact. And given that, they should be jettisoned.

If I was going to be dropped from the Test team for the rest of my career after such dismal performances, I’d be ploughing into the free Tia Maria’s too. When else is Rory Burns going to get a free drink?

They've got no shame have they?! And the captain involved too...

PS, a lot more to come out of this. Apparently a number of England players on this tour have defied the management team / coaches on numerous occasions Who the **** is running this **** show?! And what gives the players the right to go round thinking they can do what the hell they want. Given Woakes criticisms of Silverwood, I bet he was one of those refusing to do as asked.

It's almost like the Markus Schopp situation where he had no respect from the players, they just did what the hell they wanted.

I think eventually the buck stops with the ECB and the coaches immediately in charge of the team, since Bayliss left its been an unmitigated sht show - none of the players have improved and many have gone backwards - thats not the fault of the counties or the county system. Change has to start form the top, then the priorities have to be addressed in the domestic game and the county championship be put back into the mid-summer schedule rather then in Spring and autumn as after thoughts. I don't see that happening unless people vote with their feet and simply stop going to the test matches.

I don't actually have a problem with the drinks in the hotel - many players have been away and in various states of isolation for months - no team has played more test cricket then England - these players have been sacrificed for the money machine - yes its a nice life on the surface which many would envy, but happiness in life comes from balance and these men have been seriously let down IMHO.

They should have been tucked up in bed ready to come home. They don't deserve boozy drinks. Yet another embarrassment brought to us by those pathetic losers.

That would just hasten the end of test match cricket, unfortunately.

The new Puritanism, an off-shoot from the Cult Church of Covid Lockdown Worship. Young lads who've been away from home for three months now not allowed to have a few drinks AFTER they've finished their work.

A bit of a non-story for me. A group of young men away from home having booze-up, who'd have thought it?
