Yes I'd watched it all. I think there's a difference between you specifically requesting him to ask and him replying I will ask and him actually showing some initiative as a CEO and anticipating that by proactively asking. Piss poor that he hadn't until you ask him to

I can't find the Chronicle piece that relates to the 750k, the only thing I can find is the claim for £2.75m from the Crynes, but I thought this 750k 'promotion bonus' was a separate payment, which could easily be the case. But not heard anything from the Crynes for a while now...

For the things he did have jurisdiction over, he didn't fill me with confidence. I got the impression from the way he had to have the place tidied up, the way the print quality wasn't good enough on the vouchers, even the reaction to the safety report of the ground that he was fastidious, attention to detail. Yet he didn't have the no. of season tickets returned to hand, nor the costs or timings of anything that needed doing to the Weat stand.

Yes, that's the article that I've seen. But what I'm not sure of is whether the 750k is part of the original purchase price, and part of the 2.75m. which the Crynes are saying is not a BFC liability. Or is it a separate bonus, payable on promotion, on top of the 2.75m? (If that makes sense?!)

Great job on pulling this all together by the way.

I couldnt understand that one, were they or werent they not a difficult question. The rumour was conway got sold on them by a agent he didnt confirm or deny it but went on to talk about sometimes the wrong player or manager is signed i assume he was talking about olaure there as it was after he said he believed iseka would grow to a decent championship player.

As I listened to all the points raised all I could think was what are shambles we are. With it looking like vaccine passports are going away I'll make a effort to attend a game or two this season. Currently though I'm thinking of doing so to say goodbye and take care to the group of people I sit with who I only have contact with on matchdays.

    Just finished watching.

First point, hats off to Loko and Gally for putting the questions over in the way they did. Would have been all too easy to take a different line as the answers were evaded or palmed off or an alternate question was answered by the CEO. And also for pressing for written answers or clarifications. I'm not expectant they will come or will come in a timely fashion, but there's little more that could be done.

My over riding feeling is one of apathy. The particular low point was the CEO suggesting the problems weren't problems and would the questions be asked if we were doing well. This in terms of the owners paying £750k from BFC rather than their investment company, the closure of the west stand and repeated lines from Conway threatening to leave Oakwell. Grim.

I fear we have a CEO who doesn't have the ability to do his job well. I hope he's a fast learner. I fear we have a head coach who doesn't have the ability to do whats required. And we have owners that I don't trust.

Thanks again for those who put in the effort to make that happen. But sadly, despite good faith from the fans and interviewers, we're left with many of the same questions unresolved.

I believe this is the details (i got this from someone in the know)

The sale of Barnsley Football Club (2002) Limited
    • Analysis of the sale of Barnsley Football club seems to show that the Cryne Families holding company sold 100% of the shares of Barnsley Football Club Limited to the Hong Kong-based BFC Investment Ltd for £10m. The holding company then invested £2m of this in return for 20% of the Hong Kong Investment Company Limited.
    • The Cryne family effectively-remaining hold of 20% of the Football Club
    • The agreement included a time-limited option to buy the Cryne’s 50% share of the stadium and land (held in Oakwell Community Assets Ltd).
    • The sale agreement included a provision for an additional payment of £6million pounds to The Cryne’s holding company which was to be paid if the club retained Championship status under Morais or, if relegated, were promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt.
    • During the March of the League one campaign when promotion looked a possibility under Daniel Stendel, The Cryne family and BFC Investment Ltd agreed to a compromise of a guaranteed £3.5million payment paid to Cryne’s holding company at the rate of 250K per quarter irrespective of promotion.
    • Barnsley FC only paid £750K instalments of the £3.5 million. Leaving a balance of £2.75million

Well done Ben & Paul for doing this and doggedly pursuing some credible answers, but that was thoroughly depressing on so many levels. No coherent strategy in place for anything, it would appear. Like watching Johnson bluff his way through another PMQs. All it needed was a direction to wait for Sue Gray's report. Let me play David David just this once and say in the name of God, go....

Backtracking? Give over! I couldn’t remember exactly when he was appointed so I quickly looked for the info before posting. You corrected my ‘mistake’ with additional information, therefore, I then responded to that. Whether he’s been in post for 6 months or 4 months, I am yet to see anything to suggest he’s good enough.

Thanks. So, another 2.75m that they want to take out of the club then… what a mess

One thing about him being on gardening leave is that he's said a lot of things were before his time so he's no idea but a lot of the things he said that about happened when he was on gardening leave. Now I don't know about anyone else but if I was on gardening leave and awaiting joining a new company I'd be VERY interested in what that company is doing and what the person temporarily doing my job was doing. I wouldn't just close my eyes till my start date.

Especially not when I'd already admitted it was arranging (or cancelling) friendly matches for the team I don't work for yet at the time

I've had a period of gardening leave and my terms were extremely onerous as to what I was and wasn't allowed to do. So when I started my new employ (and this was a long time ago), I literally started on day 1.

I am aware not all agreements will be so onerous, and I'm also aware that it would be very hard to know what someone was doing in terms of reading up or having information passed to review or be made aware of.

The cynic in me also would suggest that its in the new CEO's interest to play this line that he wasn't involved, given how much of a **** show it was.

Perhaps we ought to insist that, in future, season ticket revenue is ring-fenced so that we can be sure it is not then given to someone as a 'bonus'. LOL.

I'm more confused than ever to be honest.

We've paid £750k from the club accounts to the Cryne Family. Our owners, all 100% of them (which included the Cryne Family), are saying this was a pre-agreed payment at the time of buying the club based on promotion.

Taking that at it's word, was that another payment to the £2.75m? It's literally exhausting trying to figure it out but I don't think it is. We owed the Cryne Family £3.5m from the sale, so the £750k added to what's outstanding gives you that number.

Yep. Like you’ve said elsewhere, it’s for Conway, Lee and the Crynes to answer now.

Well done Gally and Loko, great questions.

Khaled skirted a lot of the questions on the footballing policy and the issues with the board, but he did better with regards to the smaller stuff. He comes across as a bit arrogant but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Credit to him for doing these.

My main takeaway is that we need a Q&A with Conway. Well done to Ben for requesting that from him.

Khaled has asked for constructive criticism on matchday experience - I've just sent him an email with my thoughts.
