With respect and I mean nothing against you or the Trust... We've been running around in circles trying to get answers and updates for months. The council, crynes and PMG are all as bad as each other. If it has to be a Facebook movement that finally gets them all to pull fingers out of their arses then so be it
Do you really think a Facebook pressure group with anonymous backers, created with a fake persona, is going to get the answers you're looking for, where others have failed? Genuine question.
None taken. My point was that the ‘campaign’ doesn’t put any pressure on the Cryne’s or the Council and we’re moving straight to ‘Get them out’. Our fan base is huge and opinion isn’t universal at all. A serious takeover would try and bring the whole fan base on the journey, pointing out the facts, the answers, those involved, etc. At the moment that isn’t happening so it’s only a tiny fraction of supporters thus far. It could and likely will grow the longer we keep failing on the pitch, but I’m not entirely convinced that all those signing up to ‘Conway Out’ could really tell you why. This is just my opinion and thoughts on what you’d do first and how you’d be more successful/get taken seriously. Not dismissing the motion.
Wow. For a group of people on here who believe the Facebook group is a "hoax" and not worth bothering with, most of you really do seem to be getting your kinickers in a twist over it! There seems to be an undercurrent of jealousy and entitlement in the sense that certain people have decided it's a hoax and they don't like it as they're not involved, as if they can't believe that they haven't been begged to lead it instead of some lowly YouTube lad off Tykes TV. I could be wrong ofcorse, but that is the impression I get from reading between the lines of a few contributors to this thread.
Life long Barnsley fans argue the validity of a Facebook campaign whilst billionaires take another £2.75m out of the club after admitting they took out £750k. The club sits 24th in the league and the CEO stated his biggest achievement to date as Chicken Flatbreads. But apart from that they’ve just been unlucky....
Tbf I think most people agree that this Facebook group doesn't need permission from anyone, to start a campaign. People have also said that serious investors probably wouldn't seek endorsement from any supporters group (including supporters trust), in order to mount a takeover bid. I think the thrust of opposition is around the way they've gone about things to date. Whether that's fake profiles, misinformation, response to questions, banning people, ranty statements, mods quitting. It just all comes across quite badly to a lot of people. I get that.
I think this is worth emphasising. For all the unhappiness and unrest during the owners reign there has been very little, if any, pressure on the board to be better owners. Maybe that should be step one rather than going nuclear.
Not seen anyone suggest this one? Seen lots of people say they've made an absolute mess of the Summer though - which suggests the feeling is 'they' were incompetent or even negligent rather than unlucky.
I imagine done properly, with clear objectives, you could probably generate enough interest to mount a protest. But it really needs to think through the purpose of it, and what it wants to achieve. If it is just a protest, to make some noise and generate media interest, fair enough. No reason why any group can't just mobilise and do it. If it's more than that though, e.g. takeover territory, it's gonna take a lot more than what's been seen so far. I've mentioned this a few times, but if you haven't seen it, well worth having a look into the recent West Ham supporters group protest campaigns. Two different groups, different agendas, lots of social media presence, didn't end well.
I don't see how that helps in all honesty? If you get rid of 20% of a problem you've still got a problem...
Khaled’s Q&A stated that the deferred purchase payments were agreed to come from the club. There’s another £2.75m outstanding as at 1June 2020.
