Played the Brudenell recently or about to play there? Will give it a listen. I’ve completely checked out on new music the last 3/4 years.
Off to see them four times in the next few months, once in Edinburgh, my favourite city, courtesy of my better half. Can’t even explain how good they are, not been this excited about a band in years.
Or get local lads The Sherlocks up the charts. Cracking new album, already in top 10. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/falling/1572877182?i=1572877184
Just had a listen to the title track. I'll need to hear more from them, but my initial thought is that the singer is channeling Mark E Smith... or maybe Jarvis Cocker... or a mash-up of both of them.
No, it's not. At least not in the same way that "a crap version of Siouxsie" pops into my head whenever I hear Florence singing.
not sure myself, think its better when I just listen and don't look at singer, keep thinking of him trying to sell me a car
The Reytons are a decent local act too. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/mind-the-gap/1568478334?i=1568478432
Not far off. Not quite as good as either band IMO, but both had a long time to hone their skills. I saw Pulp at least 10 times in the 80's supporting bands at the Leadmill, Limit Club & other small venues. Even in the 90's they supported St Etienne on tour. They are from Leeds & I met a couple of them in Meanwood bars. Off to see them at the Brude for my mates birthday in Feb. Last night of their tour, so should be a good one. Glad to see them doing well. Went in Jon Moss's record shop in Headingley today & he was trying to talk me in to buying the green vinyl edition to get them to number one in the album charts.
Really impressed with the album. Pour another and 100% endurance are especially brilliant. Look a good live band too judging from live performances I've seen on YouTube etc. Quite liked one of the members former bands, menace beach, as well.
I didn't realise there was a Menace Beach connection. They were good. Fortune Teller had a classic Mansun sound to it.
