The situation that is described was part of a protest was it not? A protest to get 'Conway Out'. The Facebook group was created as a protest group to get Conway out. When you start something like that, when you whip up emotion, when you advocate protest, you have a responsibility for the actions of the people protesting. You can't just distance yourself from it and claim it's nothing to do with you.
A protest is a protest. It was going to happen eventually given the state of the club at present. Unfortunately there is always a small minority who take it one step further. There was no request for violence or intimidation from the group so for me what happened to Beth can’t be blamed solely on the Conway out Facebook group. The blame lies on the blokes who can’t handle their ale. Literally.
So seemingly we current have two 'camps' at the minute. We have the Supporters Trust, who engage with The Club officially and who are currently trying to contact Paul Conway for an interview. They're open with their aims, and there's an air of professionalism to what they do. Some might agree that they don't go far enough, but that's a matter of personal opinion. Then we have the Conway Out Facebook group. One set up by someone impersonating a well known local businessman. One who kicks people out of said group for asking viable questions and wanting further information. One who's grammar in their official statements is worse than mine. One who whilst they don't condone violence want to see people 'expressing themselves'. Knuckle dragging morons. Luke is embarrassing himself more and more each day.
They probably didn’t even know it was Beth, they just saw a woman on her own and thought they’d found an easy target for their anger.
yes that true but i think the problem is wider than who was involved. Beth is a well respected figure. Anyone in that position whether from the club, security, other fans is plain wrong. The moral compass seems to be stuck in the wrong pole for some.
they didn't say they didn't condone violence they say confrontation of an employee then goes on to say people should have the right to protest as they like. as for the two camps. It seems to me that we have a majority of fans who dont align to either and may well be ambivalent to what these camps do. So i would hope we can be more united irrespective of which faction feels they represent. Right now the owners are divided, fans are divided and players don't always look fully together. I dont recall more division in our club and BFC community that right now.
Interestingly one of the main instigators in getting all the young chavs down to the front and leading them to the other side of the ponty, resulting in fighting with the stewards and ripping chairs up, posts on this board regularly
As the post that agreed, or reconfirmed, that two camps exist I was just keen to hear how that might be broken down. I don't personally think there's two camps and the post implied that the majority of supporters sit in the middle.
I didnt notice that bit, i was too enthralled in the game he does seem to revel in playing upto the young uns though.
Thats the point im making. Knuckle dragging isnt exclusive to the Conway out group as seems to be implied
