I doubt they are real. Two weeks after the group founder states on Twitter he’s had enough and wants to do something about the clubs owners, he magically gets asked to represent some prospective new owners. Prospective owners who don’t even know how much it would cost to buy the club, or if its even for sale and who’s strategy is not to ask either of those points but to make some posters with Conway out on them, slate the current owners before a conversation is held with them on those quite important points. If it looks like ******** and smells like ******** it probably actually is ********.
despite everything that's happened so far, I really do hope the garrison event doesn't turn into the farce that some are predicting. I want it to be positive. I would love this mystery investor to be revealed, and for people to come away from it with some genuine hope that changes might happen. not very hopeful that will happen, but I don't want the event to be a sham.
It’s not in the gift of fans to ‘chose’ owners. If it were the world might be a better place. The issues you raise at the end of your post are different matters. I don’t think it fair or true to equate that conduct with everyone who wants to see change.
I doubt it'll happen. My guess it'll be abandoned Tues afternoon after its organiser receives information that trouble makers with no affinity to the Conway Out group and from other social media groups were planning to disrupt the event. You can have that one on me Luke.
No-one will be revealed as they don’t exist. It’ll be a mixture of whipping up anger against the owners and brain storming what actions can be taken to get them out. Any talk of investors will be extremely vague and conversation around it will be swiftly moved on in a ‘don’t worry, that’s safe, let’s see what we can do to get rid of Conway et al. in the meantime’ type thing.
Apols (and to Andytyke). I wasn't as clear in my post as previous ones. What I'm after (at the moment) is a statement of intent from the current owners to leave and put the club up for sale. That's it. There is no 'gap' between ownership.
A lot of mocking on this thread of fellow fans who might be simply trying to do something to change the current dire situation. Why would you get off on that? I'd be keen to hear of another approach that might lead to a situation where we actually thought the the Club could move forwards? Maybe a chat with the CEO or the (absentee) Board?
They can't leave and put the club up for sale though. They can put the club up for sale, find a buyer, oversee the transfer to the new owner, then leave. Is that what you mean?
I think it will end in a beer hall putsch. A baying mob with flaming torches held aloft will march on the east stand offices only to find the place in darkness. When they press the intercom buzzer they will get a recorded message from Beth: Welcome to Barnsley football club our opening hours are........ The mob will disperse disappointed save for a few blow hards and the real Martin nettleton. The blowhards will be slung in jail where some will write a political manifesto, our Martin will be pardoned on the basis he'd only turned up to find out who was impersonating him.
I'm mocking them at the minute because the only thing the Facebook Group has done so far is provide a bit of admin for a bunch of idiots to have a go and staff and stewards. As for your second paragraph? The Supporters Trust are doing exactly that.
I’m mocking because it’s so obviously not real. If they’d arranged a group/meeting using their real names and asking for ideas of ways to show discontent with the owners, or had come with an idea they were trying to persuade fans to back then fair enough. It’s not that though, is it? It’s a closed group set up by someone with a fake name (or to be precise, the name of a wealthy business owner in Barnsley), proclaiming to have an anonymous buyer who seems to have the business acumen of a fish, blocking people who ask legitimate questions any fan might have, post on Twitter if they can throw stuff at people a few hours before staff get something thrown at them, and are potentially asking people to sign an NDA for a meeting at a pub. It’d bloody better be fake because god help us if this was all set up by someone who was to actually become our new owner.
Contrary to my post on the matter I do actually agree with them and wish them well. Sometimes there is humour to be found and let's face it we need it ATM. I really hope they make life uncomfortable for the board and the board realise they are rumbled.
