His go beyond stupid though. Time and time again he lashes a ball into the air, and is caught, or chips to a close fielder for a simple catch. His occasional good score or decent bowling performance doesn't excuse his recklessness. Ali just annoys me and I cannot see how he gets in the team at all. The Windies were smashing balls into the stands at will. We hit plenty but so many fell short, or were caught. Good game to watch having recorded it. FF button is my friend
He could do with a stint in the Pakistan T20 that started today. 26 English players have gone there to play in it which is great for the competition as Pakistan is safe to visit and playing it in UAE wasn't the same. Amongst the English speaking commentators are Nick Knight, David Gower, Mike Haysman and Danny Morrison. That's a better line up than Sky have now they have let many of the better guys leaves.
Weird innings that. Windies started like a house on fire, didn't get a boundary for ages and then finished strongly. I doubt England will go over 30 balls without a 4 or 6. I expect England to win but it will comfortably be the biggest t20 chase that ground has seen.... https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/e...ult=1;template=results;type=team;view=innings
I’ve finally had enough of the commentators and turned the sound off. Harmison is so dense his insights make my soul hurt. What really annoys me though is the utter surprise and child like wonder they show after each six- like it’s the first time anyones slogged a ball in 20:20 cricket on a small ground with a flat wicket. It does my head in. I’m not sure any of them have said anything interesting or new in 5 games other then describe what they’ve just seen with the vocabulary of a 12 year old.
We lost that in the last 5 overs of their innings. Can anyone explain why we took the spinners off. Livingston and Ali had an over each left and had them completely under control so took them off for seam and got totally tonked W indies bowled a spinner in the last 5 overs and we couldn’t score I didn’t understand the decision to leave overs Unbowled by the spinners at the time and it looks even dafter now
For the spinners not to ball out their overs was bonkers. Poor captaincy. Probably looking at 160/165 at best. I understand we had 5/6 regulars missing. But that was inexcusable.
Another one of those shouting at the telly matches for me! When we had them pinned down to no boundaries in over half an hour we should have kept the foot on the throat and restricted them to about 150. As said above - poor captaincy, but that's Moeen Ali for me. One decent score, once in a blue moon, and the odd decent return with the ball. Doesn't justify his place for me and that series was thrown away. Ok, we weren't at full strength but we have enough good T20 players in the country to beat the Windies, surely?
