who actually thinks its a good idea now? johnson sacked at sunderland & lampard new everton boss today so the 2 new bosses cannot sign anyone now nor can LJ should he walk straight into another job, seems an age back now but sure it was 31st march before but seems the better option to prevent over spending panic buys
The change I'd make is that clubs would have a transfer window for managers too and it would be offset from the player transfer window by a few weeks
Most managers are free agents though, having been sacked from elsewhere. Except for the strangeness that surrounded Stendel where he seemed to be sacked / not sacked so Hearts may have had to pay compensation. I didn't understand that one.
i guess it depends on the terms of sacking. If a manager has his contract covered financially the club may claim they have a say in any job offers while still ‘under contract’. I suspect Watford have several managers on the books right now. Then i guess alternatively there could be a compromise maybe payoff for an immediate complete severing of ties. Less compensation but free to do other stuff. And im sure deals somewhere in between.
Wouldn’t the panic buys just swap to that date? Might be less granted as some may view as down already so don’t bother, whereas with Jan there is still hope.
I think that happens a lot to be honest but just not in the public eye. It’s a way for the sacking club to try to minimise compensation by hoping that they will get a new job soon.
Was the old way better? Maybe. I think players were more loyal even if they could move at anytime. Now it's all orchestrated by agents, players and Sky.
As it was brought in to counter the Bosman ruling, shouldn't it be irrelevant now we've tAKen oWer kuNTRy baK?
I would do away with transfer deadline day & in fact change the system , I would introduce a system where once the season has begun a club can only sign a maximum of 5 players during any one season apart from an emergency goalkeeper situation but you can sell or move on as many as you like , the 5 players can be brought in at any time but once you have brought in your allocation then that is that , it might encourage clubs to get their squads together in close season but still allows flexibility during the season & also it would help lesser clubs who are struggling financially to sell players at anytime to ease their problems.
Why won't Lampard be able to sign anyone? BBC reporting theyre bringing in Van De Beek on loan as well as others???
