Andre Wisdom & Jon Nolan both available on a free, imagine the need for experience and two players under 30 for nothing. I'd be snapping them up.
We won’t though. To be fair, Nolan has just had his contract terminated by a team hovering around mid table in league one and hasn’t played this season so I’m not sure he’s the answer to whatever question we are asking. Wisdom hasn’t had a club since the summer; seems bizarre.
Way too many players being touted as potential missed targets, or players we should have signed, that are being released or going on to sign for well below the level you'd hope we are aiming for. In some cases we're criticising the players brought in whilst recommending ones who'll likely never play in the Championship or play in the Championship again. I put this down to frustration more than anything, but where a player ends up is usually a good barometer of whether we should have signed them.
It was ever thus! It's just the maelstrom of transfer deadline day. I'm quite happy with the incoming myself (got no reason to criticise them), and weve managed to keep everyone worthy of keeping except Sibbick, who wasn't getting a game anyway. Those free transfers people talk about are sans club for a reason. Many of them could be described as comic sans.
It brings a smile to my face every time someone signs a player & bet your bottom dollar that one of our fans will respond by saying " we have missed out there ", if we signed every player we have missed out on we would have a squad of about 80 players & rising
