Please don't tie the BBS into the ST Group. That would be inaccurate as well as unfortunate. Your link between this issue and Brexit? A tad weird that.

The worst though is the slur in your first line. That can't go unmentioned. I might have my issues with the ST but to equate them with the Labour Party is a disgrace. :)

Open to hearing what those issues are. Either privately or in public.

Your earlier comment around the two objectives was a bit too black and white and not 100% accurate. As comments in this thread would show, so anything I can do on behalf of BFCST to reassure, confirm, or make things worse I’m all ears.

    What issues?

On your substantive question. Mt earlier post tried to set out what I thought was the position of the Trust re the current ownership. I said:

"I understand it is the case that the ST do not want the owners removed, and subsequently do not want to lead or be involved in a campaign with anyone (the FB group or anyone else), to seek their removal. That position may change in time but it hasn't yet."

If that isn't the position of the ST, can you tell me what it is. Not being funny here (and this forum - rather than discussing over a pint does make it harder to communicate) but could you just set it out clearly - and just in relation to the question - not the plethora of wider issue. Cheers

    I'm not ridiculing him.

I want to know why he's stated categorically that a buyer is in place, when he's provided no evidence and just set up (or heads) a FB group that so far has been encouraged a protest that then turned ugly - although he has distanced himself from Saturday, in a fashion.

He obviously believes that the prospective buyers are genuine or he wouldn't put himself on offer' whether they are or not we don't know of course but i certainly think Luke believes it 100%' as for saturday the fans are very angry atm and very rightly so because the lack of communication from the board has created a toxic atmosphere and it was bound to happen...

I've laid this out before but will give a general overview again. As an FYI I agree with your earlier comment that the majority of supporters believe the club to be badly run, but I think you've taken a giant leap to then assume that means that the same majority of supporters want the owners out. Those are two entirely separate feelings and opinions.

BFCST only exist to to be a voice for the majority of supporters. To try and support and influence decisions at the club that directly have an impact on us.

At the moment there's a hundred different stances, to the extremes of get them out tomorrow, get them all out, just get Conway out, be thankful we've got a football club, actively find new owners, the model can be a success with some fine tweaking, we've always had ups and downs, and no doubt many, many more.

The stance of BFCST, if you're pushing for one, is that we haven't come close to speaking to all the relevant people or extracting enough information. We have to consider 'what's next' if these owners rush through a sale, because we can't blindly endorse a minority viewpoint (because that's what it is overall currently) because what happens if we influence supporters to go down a path that makes things worse? Who's accountable then?

Our priority right now is to try and facilitate some form of access to Paul Conway and the ownership group - hopefully in person. At the point you've heard directly from them, you can then decide on what the next steps are. But they're unlikely to be the pitchforks and lanterns a minority clamour for because you've got to have a plan for what comes next. The future of the football club is paramount to everything. All squabbles and Facebook groups come secondary to ensuring that supporters have a Barnsley FC at the end of the day.

There's no consensus for us to endorse is my point. But we can work on behalf of supporters to get much more clarity which might lead to a consensus. An example being, and I doubt this will happen, but if Paul Conway was, hypothetically, to confirm that all owners agreed to the £3.5m coming out of the club accounts in annual installments of £750k, then as a supporter you've got to decide if you're happy with that, what your view on the Cryne's would be for agreeing to that, if you believe it, etc. But at least you'd know straight from the horse's mouth.

Another example might be to get Paul Conway to publicly say that he is no longer actively speaking to any football clubs about us leaving Oakwell. Now you might not believe him, but at least he's been forced to say it (or not) one way or the other.

I guess in summary, your understanding is incorrect. The view of those involved with the Supporters' Trust will be mixed like it is on here, like it was last night, like it will be tomorrow.

You've got to admit though. Last night was meant to be more information about these genuine buyers. It wasn't mentioned once and was just an audience with Tykes TV Live right? That's not a criticism, but that's what it was as an event.

I still can't believe that a group so critical of the running of the club didn't ask the CEO anything. Missed opportunity considering it was being streamed live on Facebook as well.

It wasnt 'bound to happen'. I'm angry at The Board, but I didn't chuck beer on Beth or wang my seat at a steward. You're just providing justification for mindless vandalism.

And as for Luke having proof of these funds? Show the relevant people. If new owners are there want to make an offer then crack on.

My observation and questions for the prospective buyers. If they exist.
Have you approached the club directly. And questioned if it would be looked at given they said they would leave if not wanted.
If yes is the answer then why all the upheaval.
If no. Then wtf. Get on with it.

Loko how many members does the Supporters Trust have? Just trying to build a picture of roughly how many are affiliated to neither group.

Would need to check. Not my gig on that front. Not sure it would represent a truly accurate figure because there was a more active recruitment drive in years gone by where members got discounts from the club shop, priority on tickets, and loads of other benefits that have been eroded over time (like the discount at the store being taken away once all profits went to Nike - or something like that).

The focus has been on free memberships the last view years and encouragement to use Redfearn's Bar/The FanZone for supporting local charities and any Trust work. Likewise, the Facebook group has no filter on guaranteeing everyone is a Barnsley fan, real, or that they share a strong opinion over a passing interest/popcorn moment.

"Out of his way" you say? He's not only a moderator of the FB page, but he's actively liked anti-BBS posts that have been made on it.

As someone who doesn't know him in the slightest, but who has an interest in the aims of anyone wishing to work towards new ownership of the club, it's exactly this type of two-facedness that gives me cause to question exactly what he's trying to achieve, by making public statements of unity and taking an active part in spreading the type of dis-unity that you're complaining about.

The Conway Out group has increasingly become something that he's the sole voice of, rather than the 'group of local businessmen' that it was set up to be. Last night was supposed to shed more light on that, but ultimately proved to be the views of a single person being expressed, albeit in a way which showed he'd spent a lot of time and effort in preparing to do so. However, it's still very much a sole voice that we're hearing from it.

Forgive me but that's not an answer to what was a simple proposition. I set out what I thought was the line of the Trust in relation to their position on the current ownership. That being:

"I understand it is the case that the ST do not want the owners removed, and subsequently do not want to lead or be involved in a campaign with anyone (the FB group or anyone else), to seek their removal. That position may change in time but it hasn't yet."

What I take from your answer is either a) yes that is the position or b) That is our position but we reserve the right to change it or c) we do not see it as our role/place to take a position on the owners - these or any others - so we will not be doing so.

What is behind me trying to understand the position of the ST is simply this. Many other football club's Supporters Trusts have been at the forefront of campaigns/protests to remove Owners who they think are damaging their Club. I think BFC are in that situation. So is it worthwhile me, or anyone else, getting involved in the Trust to try to persuade others that we are facing a meltdown and we should show some leadership in doing something about it. Without that, the only game in Town at the moment are those who roughly align themselves with the objectives of the FB group.

On a related point could you give me an indication of the size of the Membership of the Trust? Cheers.

Would still be nice to know a rough figure and what it was at its highest.

Understand your frustrations but why in the name of all that is holy didn't anyone politely put their hand up at the end and say 'Thanks for that Luke, pal. But now to address the elephant in the room... Is there a buyer waiting in the wings or not?' Isn't that the whole reason why people turned up in the first place? I get that Luke may have missed a trick, but we don't know the full story - perhaps the CEO wanted to be there in an observatory capacity only. And maybe Luke got a bit lost in the presentation and forgot to do a quick q&a. But I'd argue those in attendance missed an opportunity by failing to ask the glaringly obvious question of the head of the Facebook Group, with the CEO and other club employees in attendance. Even if he said something like 'there were rumours initially of a buyer, but this has proven to be a dead end' at least would let fans know the position in that regard..

Credit to Luke for standing up and doing that. Perhaps not the best method but he obviously cares a great deal, is sticking to his views, and is doing his best. If I were him I'd shut down the Facebook group completely and create a website for people to sign up to (a simple wordpress or something). Get the adults back in the room so to speak. Also, people criticising his career abilities (acting) is just pathetic.

Again Fonzie (and for anyone else who went), why wasn't the question put to him?

This is your opinion though, right? You're stating what you think and what you believe needs to happen? There's nothing wrong with that, but it's important we're clear there.

In answer to your other question, on your breakdown/segmentation it's probably a). In terms of members we're just short of 3,000 c/c @MrsHallsToffeerolls
