Be grateful if anyone can recommend a firm to replace me hinges on two upvc windows which are no longer closing tightly enough. I'm not so much interested in the cheapest price for this - just the most reliable and best quality job. I particularly need someone who is careful as one of the windows is in a newly re-tiled bathroom.

    Any advice appreciated folks.

Have you tried adjusting them? It's possible to nip some of them up with an allen key. I've definitely seen some How To videos on YouTube.

Thanks OG - I'll have a look but it might be above my pay grade!

Alternatively the bloke we use is Eddie, at Window Repairs Barnsley. 07539 936998.
He's done loads of jobs for us, replaced misted up windows, repaired locks, replaced handles, other adjustments. Been in the window trade for donkeys years.

Not to be confused by another local company with exactly the same name.

Many thanks OG. I had noticed this chap in my preliminary search yesterday, so it's very helpful to hear of someone with experience of him. I have now arranged a visit. Thanks again. :)

They don't all have that feature, indeed most value Windows don't. Mine don't. The YouTube videos I saw about my style of Windows claimed replacement hinges were required and it was an easy fix. Wrong on both counts. You can reset the current hinges. I did this two weeks ago on my own and although I achieved the required result I would not recommend it with all the recommending power I have available. Not a fun day.
