And people say Tarn fans are thugs, I’ve had away fans sit near me in the East lower and other than a bit of friendly banter, nothing bad either in words or action aimed at them. That season we lost to Everton in that epic 5-3 loss, 2 Everton fans, dad and lad sat in front of me, Result apart, they said they’d themselves that much, that they would come to watch us in a league game. Don’t know if they ever did, but we did have a laugh throughout
Doncaster Rovers on a bitterly cold Tuesday night in 2005. Lost 4-0 we were atrocious. Another one was at Elland Road 2014 relegation season. Danny Wilson’s first game back. Luckily the game was awful.
We were in the stand behind the managers with the scousers.....God know how we kept quiet when that goal went in!!
We were sat in their main stand that night, so managed to leave early and got home before the final whistle.
I was in the away end at Hillsborough when Palce sent Wednesday down with a 2 all draw. Perhaps not totally relevant to the question but a enjoyable day nonetheless
Yes, Huddersfield in the play-offs. It was wonderful seeing them all their fans leave in silence at full-time after they thought all they had to do was turn up & they'd go through. Also Newcastle when we lost 6-1 under Robins, wasn't quite so fun.
Used to do it all the time at Filbert Street. I rarely had much to cheer about so my cover wasn’t often blown.
Wednesday in the ZDS. I worked in Sheffield and made a late decision to go. Our fans were being charged something ridiculous so I stood on the Kop. It turned out a few of our fans had thought the same and by the time the penalties were being taken, there were two dozen of us surrounded by police in the bottom corner. We were even acknowledged by one of our players after scoring in the shoot out. Somehow I managed to blend in on Penistone Road afterwards.
Remember watching that game in the old social club at the ground. First time we had ever been live on Sky. You would have thought we had won the FA cup, the atmosphere was rocking.
Yep away at Leeds when we drew 3-3. Barnsley scored first and sat quite close to away fans. Wanted to celebrate but couldn’t and this little chunt next to me was giving Barnsley fans loads of **** and I just wanted to punch him. Was actually wearing my Barnsley shirt under my coat too. #sillybastard
When visiting an ex girlfriends family in MK I made the rash decision to take her young cousin to watch us away at West Ham. No planning involved, spur of the moment. We couldn't get in our end so stood on the West Ham main terrace behind the goal. It was the game we went 2 up and then conceded 3 I think. Was it 1991? Quite the surreal experience and not one i would repeat but i was young and naive back then.
Leeds loads of times, even used to go on their supporters bus from Harrogate and none of them knew until one time I got dropped off before official bus stop, pulled out red and white scarf and gave them the Kes as they drove off! Favourite memory was stood in their pen on Lowfields Rd the night Archie and Brendan scored for their only home defeat of their promotion season. Leicester at Filbert St - Got tickets from a Walkers Crisps rep. Drew 2-2 Payton scored for us. Luton Town - A mates girlfriend’s brother (Peter Holmes) played for them and said he’d sort me a ticket to collect from ticket office. Spent the day on the swill with Dove Inn (I think, or could have been Rising Sun) and when I picked up ticket it was in home end! That was interesting to say the least. Bradford on a couple of occasions. Bournemouth - It was pissing down so decided to sit down side in their end rather than stand on open away end behind the goal Forest - Mates dad had the Globe pub between Forest and County and used to get free tickets off the ground staff. That was the night Marc Richards scored a an absolute beauty in to goal at the Trent End. Stoke - At Britannia Stadium - went with a mate who’s a Stoke Fan
i was in their end same game, think it was a segregated end though but still ended up sat with them, awful fans that day, also ended up in the bumhole lane end once, think we lost 1-0 penalty, dreadful game in an empty stadium, biggest cheer was the ft whistle
Manchester City away in the League cup, Etihad stadium, I think it finished 7-0 ! Years earlier at the Old Maine Road, now that was **** scary!!!
Yep. Newcastle away Fa Cup 97-98 season, complimentary tickets from a transport company up there. Thought we were in a box, but was smack bang centre of Gallowgate end. Coat zipped up to my chin to keep my shirt covered, oh how hard was it to keep quiet when Lidds scored
also a load of us went in away at oakwell v's hudds early 80's freezing cold, our scarves tied round our waists to hide colours, away and packed and we saw a bloke with a barnsley hat & gloves on! went up to him and said we're tarn fans too, he took his gloves off to reveal htfc tattoos on his knuckles and only bought them to keep warm! then a local plod recognised us and kicked us out!
Bloody hell Kev, hope u weren't too hard on them. Should have shown them the leotard u wear under your clothing, they would have soon scarpered
That forest game was a Friday night on sky and there's literally no footage of it anywhere on YouTube. Bizarre.
