Seeing Brice Samba getting sent off for cuffing Steven Fletcher at Forest reminded me of a similar episode with Gerry Stewart at Valley Parade back in November '74. I think (if memory serves) it was City's Joe Cooke who went up for a corner and fetched Stewart one in the ribs as he caught the ball cleanly. Clearly not enamoured with the challenge, Gerry slammed the ball on the ground and gave the Bradford striker the full Barnsley Kiss, receiving a straight red and conceding a penalty which City converted for his troubles!

    Anyone else there that day?

Yep. Stood on a small terrace in front of the old stand that burned down.

Loads of Reds fans wearing poppies.

Usual friendly welcome from the locals.

    Good keeper was Gerry.

I mentioned in a thread before we played Forest that we ought to target Bamba and rile him up. He is a powder keg waiting to go off. Good keeper mindst

Interesting reading comments from Forest fans. Some think the ref should never officiate another game, Fletcher had it coming and it was "hardly a haymaker". Yup, that's how it works.

Was Samba always this temperamental or have these incidents only started to occur after that bump on the head he got? He should have got sent off at the end of that match too, so odd was his behaviour.

From what I’ve seen of him he’s always been more than willing to get involved in a bit of a fracas
