Remember a couple of years back when that cop in his 20s hit that lad outside bus station in head with his Batton Anyways he was supposed to go on trial next month but has been found dead in his home
PC Richard Sampson: Police officer due in court over Sheffield Wednesday fan 'attack' found dead in Chapeltown | The Star
Very sad to read that, his actions were way over the top that day but I feel for his family with the loss of a son
He deserved a punishment imo, but definitely not death. I wonder if trial by social media unfortunately ultimately lead to this.
Probably yes. Otherwise we'd (nearly) all not know about the incident. It's an unfortunate outcome. Although if the fear as an officer couldn't face a sentence then imagine him inside ! Sad end to a situation that could have been avoided. Thinks it was ineviatable he'd have done time after the video we all saw. Still sad that his family have to endure a lifetime of the sad fallout.
Social media is the cancer of society IMO, when I look back to leaving school (2001) social media played no part in society really, whilst I use a few different formats of it I’d happily bin it off if it made a difference to how things are today
Deserved to be punished in a court for what he had done moment of madness against a young kid who on the day was not behaving but didnt deserve a whack in the skull. Who knows what made him do that, guilt the thought of prison we will never know sad end.
I think we've all got a good idea. But through experience people get to the tipping point where they think it's the last and only option. I sincerely hope he (and the lad) asked for and/or were offered the relevant and appropriate help and assistance.
Awful news, it can't help that these things drag on for so long. It only increases the stress for all parties. Thoughts with his family.
If you're drowning in the ocean, your natural instincts to survive kick in. Without knowing, plenty will pull others down into the water without fully realising what they're doing in order to breath and ultimately survive. When something surprises you (or even when you know what's coming), you'll flinch to protect your head/face. It's basic instinct. Every fibre of your being is doing what it can to make you survive any situation - so for someone to fight that and take their own life, then I think it shows how powerless and worthless they're feeling. What he did was wrong, and deserved punishment. But he didn't deserve death - nor does he deserve to be ridiculed online by people who have no idea what is running through his head.
Comes with age most of the time thinking more about things ,but some just judge without knowing the full facts.
I know someone who went to prison a few times. It does all go off as you see in the movies/ documentaries and serials. He stayed in his cell for duration of his sentences. Being a Policeman would have made his life hell inside. I can see why he's done it. R.I.P
