If Corbyn had become PM I wonder if his stupid brother would have still acted the way he does. It wouldn't have been a good look PM Jeremy Corbyn telling the country to get jabbed but his brother telling people not to and getting arrested for protesting.

Starmer has to have splinters on his backside from all the fences he sits on. If he was in power no way would we be as open now as we are.

Boris is an absolute tool and the favourite to take over is his next door neighbour who somehow didn't see/hear the party next door.

The thing is Churton, this government may not have told us they were going to rob us blind (of our freedoms), but we still gave them the keys to the house by listening to their every word and following orders. All the while they're laughing their socks off with their parties at number 10 and people still tune in. If Johnson announced another lockdown tomorrow at 6, people would duly comply. Where is this anger you speak of? Because all I see is a nation bowing down to the tory machine under the guise of covid.

That's basically the "drunken aresehole in the pub" answer.

You know the bloke, 5 pints gone and starting to slur his words, hasn't had an original idea for 10 years, just recycles what others say or what he can just about read in the Sun.

Thoughtless, boring pat answers that when you press him about what he means he can't back up with any insight or reason.

And not voting at all would do what to achieve a change in government do you think?

I never said he’d vote Tory.

Apathy, and thinking it makes no difference at all who is in power, is what will give this treacherous bunch of lying toffs a chance of retaining their seats.

How can you say that when they were actively breaking their own rules while at the same time ordering the country into lockdowns? It absolutely does; all I hear is people are so angry at them but the same people will listen to their every word - the words of proven liars. They're just dividing and ruling and covid is an example of that. And it's sad that more people don't see it.

Oh I agree that their flagrant trashing of their own rules on covid is a disgrace. The rules were instigated for good reason and they laughed in the face of all who made sacrifices for the common good.

I think their rules have done insurmountable damage to a lot of people, particularly the lockdowns and enforced isolation for many. The fact that they themselves didn't take them seriously makes me question what it was actually about.

As it stands, Corbyn would need a new party to form a government. He won't be a Labour candidate unless he apologises.

This thread is going off track a bit. It's not about which party you support and if you voted worse doesn't make you a Tory voter.
The poll is based on different party's approach to Brexit Covid Russia.
I think we would have been in a worse position as I don't think labour would have rolled out the vaccine as Boris did due to Brexit views and an approach of sharing out vaccines with the world. Also as much as I am against any war we are stronger with allies and have to support the consensus if it's right. Our family have always been predominantly labour but as bad as the Tories are and I don't agree with the bad stuff they have done and do, the poll is about would we be in a better position now under labour and why?

I've re set the options so you can't see who has voted what, just incase anybody would rather not share what they have voted for.

In Fairness Starmer with his tory lite policies feeds into that. Tory and Labour aren’t significantly different. The main difference I can see would be trustworthiness and an ability to tell the truth I’m terms of policy they seem to be very similar.

    "We are stronger with allies".

If only there was some kind of union we could join? Maybe one in Europe? Maybe they could call it the European Union?

Just to pick up on the point about the vaccine rollout? That had very little to do with 'Boris' and lots to do with the fantastic NHS staff and volunteers throughout the country. Good job we clapped for them. Yes, I'll concede that we purchased enough doses of said vaccines to go around, but I'd wager that was because we'd had an incredibly high number of deaths from the virus - due to in many expert opinions the way the government has handled the pandemic.

So back to your original question? Would it be better or worse? Well nobody can say for sure, its purely hypothetical - but as my patio furniture could do a better job, I'd stick my neck on the line and say that Labour would too (whichever version is in charge).

We would be in a better position under labour because Johnson, Patel, Sunak, Gove, Javid, Truss, Dorries (continue ad infinitum) wouldn't be in government.

Not a single thing this Tory government has done since they got into power has been about improving the life of the ordinary working class citizen, not a single fu cking thing, in fact they've gone out of their way to grind them into dust while downing £75 bottles of red in the garden and slapping the backs of their rich chums. The only people who can't see the problem with this government are the gullible, the ignorant or those with enough money in the bank to not care.

The Labour party is far from perfect, but for anyone to say that we'd be worse off under them clearly doesn't follow politics or is just a liar.

Can we stop calling it Tory lite, when it’s far from it?

It would be much more appropriate to call it ‘Labour Centre’ or something similar. By using Tory it makes it sound like he’s just like them, when there is zero evidence to say that he is. The Tories at the moment are as right on the scale as they have ever been in their history, so it isn’t fair to say that leader of the Labour Party is anywhere near right wing.

Yes Labour have moved towards the centre, I’d prefer them to stay towards progressive, socialist policies, but that’s been proven to be unelectable.

Whilst ever we push the agenda that Starmer is Tory lite, another Blair (we had the best decade in over a century when he was in charge btw and would be classed as a great PM if it wasn’t for Iraq), it will continue to feed the notion that Starmer is the anti christ when the bloke actually sat in No. 10 is significantly worse and more dangerous.

Im yet to see a policy or direction which would point to Labour being Tory Lite.
