Seem to be...or that's your interpretation of it? To be honest I've not read anything about it so if you could point me in the right direction I'll have a read.
I think its in relation to Angela Rayner slipping into thoughtless gobshite mode and saying she'd advocate a terrorist being shot first and questions asked later. On one hand I can see it as something thats a bit stupid to say as it completely depends on context and situation. However, given I live in London and have been pretty close to a couple of terror attacks down the years, if there was immediate risk to life of someone trying to murder people (like the more recent attacks around London Bridge), I'd hope the police/armed forces did just that.
and you would happy if they got it wrong and killed your child / partner/ someone else’s child partner. You can either respect the rule of law or agree with executing people who might be suss. You can’t do both.
Seems pretty clear cut https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/angela-rayner-shoot-to-kill-terrorists-b2017139.html
If there's someone with a bomb strapped around their waist, with swords taped to their arms, or some other murderous expressed intent.... I think I'd be pretty happy for the police to shoot them dead at the earliest opportunity. As I said in my prior post, its all down to the context and situation. I don't think anyone is advocating for the police to shoot just anyone without reason and in the pursuit of saving innocent lives.
I'm pretty sure that's a fairly normal way for police in any country to deal with a potential terrorist threat. I don't think that AR is suggesting police just go around firing willynilly at anyone they deem as looking dodgy. I think you're reaching with this one. To suggest Labour are advocating summary execution is wrong. Labour have changed beyond "the only way is left" mantra and your upset about it, which you're totally within your rights to be, but labour are not the enemy of the people. Security, the economy, health, education, social care... Its all a completely different landscape to what it was in the 70s and 80s, there is a lot of line-blurring going on but labour are still, as far as I can tell, a better bet for the normal working citizen.
so if you suspect someone and they shoot them but they are completely incorrect you have no problem with that. Ironic timing given it’s the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Unfortunately politicians and some voters never learn from history.
I bet you wouldn't be outraged in the slightest if armed police stood by and allowed a terrorist to detonate his suicide vest next to one of your loved ones.
I’m pretty indifferent to Labour. I have voted for them once in 20 years and only voted for one leader Starmer. Given Stamer is just about to lose funding and support of trade unions it’s pretty clear they view him as an obstacle to progress for working people. As above on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday people never learn from history. They just forget it.
Again we have the rule of law or we don’t. Maybe have a look at the events of Bloody Sunday before suggesting a shoot on site policy is a great idea.
I've posted my previous reply again for you, as you seem to have come up with a very different interpretation of what I said. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If there's someone with a bomb strapped around their waist, with swords taped to their arms, or some other murderous expressed intent.... Im not advocating indiscriminate killing of people and I'm pretty certain Angela Raynor wasn't either. I think you're getting your knickers in a twist about nothing. Sometimes they may get it wrong when faced with a quick decision but most of the time they get it right and save people. You can't live in a risk averse world where nobody ever makes a mistake. It is ridiculous.
famously instructing the authorities to ‘shoot first and ask questions later’ has never gone wrong and is a sound way to run a society. I can only take Raynor at face value.
I noticed you dodged my statement about how you'd feel if they didn't kill a bomber in time who was next to your loved ones. It is easy to criticise from a distance like you are when you don't have to make that call. You make out as though this is a frequent issue or something. If it was, you may have a point.
After all the sleaze, Tory donors fast-tracked into the house of lords, wallpaper gate, party gate, millions if not billions of pounds squandered on P.P.E. to their mates and Tory donors, Johnson lying through his back teeth about Starmer and Jimmy Savell with Starmer receiving death threats, while ever a Tory party is in power there will be no border in the Irish sea and no checks on goods from NI to GB or GB to NI remember that one, we have yet to see 1 benefit from Brexit, people like Nadine Dorris, Theresa Coffey, George Eustace, Liz Truss, Dom Raab and Moggy, in offices of state. And yet we have 30 posters on here that think that Starmer/ Corbyn would do worse than this rabble it's mind-blowing.
Not of Bill and Margaret who are just out shopping in Primark, just people who want to murder innocent people going about their day, are you saying they shouldn't?
Not for me. One would have been an absolute disaster of a totally different kind to the one we have now. At best it would be as bad as this one, but with the potential to have been worse. The thought of Corbyn dealing with the Ukraine issue is not worth thinking about, considering that he's taking the side of the Russians currently, and accusing the West of being the aggressors.
Couldn't have put it better myself. I'll certainly be voting Tory next time as Johnson makes me laugh and I feel sorry for him as he's had a hard time
I ******* hate the tories, I'd like to see them all locked in a room until they had eaten each other with the last one eating themselves until there was no trace of anyone being there apart from 1 set of teeth. Labour are just so nothing and I dislike them for this. The next election will be like your kid being in a football final and instead of encouraging them to play to their strengths, enjoy the occasion and believe in their ability, you ask them to play less crap than the opposition. Come on labour ffs it's there for the taking. Be strong, decisive, intelligent and forward thinking and get these furkers out or stop wasting our time.
Starmer is just the 'Im not Corbyn socialist' leader. He lied to become leader and now he's leader he's just making gestures to the Tory base so Labour gave a chance if picking up Tory votes. He has no policies other than to suggest he's not Corbyn. The man is an empty vessel and I won't be voting for him.
