Jasper Moon has been mismanaged and the club haven’t helped him whatsoever. The problem is that as much as that is true, it is just as true that the lad hasn’t got it. He’s not good enough. He’s 21 years of age and we have seen enough already to show that. It’s speculation to say he’s league two or national league level. I’m not convinced he’d play week in week out at those levels either. There are much better players than him in the conference. There are also likely to be plenty of young players of about his age and quality in championship squads, learning from older pros in training and playing u23 football. Maybe spending half a season or a full one in league two - or a month or two at a non league club. Loans can be shorter still at that level. Only at Barnsley would he be in the match day squad pretty much every week when fit. I don’t think he’s ever going to be championship standard. In fact I can only see him being good enough for us if we get relegated twice and end up in league two. I don’t see him being good enough to be consistently solid at league one level to be honest. At 23-24 and with likely 75 ish first team appearances minimum by that stage, he’d do a job at league two level you’d hope. But we’ll probably have sold him to Bradford for 75k and a 20% sell on after he’s had five or six good games in league one by then. I do feel for the lad. I really do. But it doesn’t lessen the view I strongly hold about his ability or lack thereof.
He’s only brought on as a substitute for his long throws it seems . Not good enough at moment and his confidence must be shattered this season too .
Had a feeling when he came on that Coventry would score. He has been making errors all season. He is inexperienced and the club are doing him no favours. I dont feel he is championship standard at the moment nor may never be.
He has always looked a bit shake when he has played and when he came on I thought the inevitable would happen... and it did. Not good enough for this level yet if ever.
- Reds cannot build on QPR momentum - 0-0 draw wouldn’t have been enough with wins needed - Horror homecoming for Cov lad Moon - no shots on target yet again - winless in 20 away games, 7 straight defeats
Bobby had something which is very difficult to teach you either have it or you don't. Bobby Moore had it in abundance and it is the ability to read a game.
In isolation, his mistake on Saturday could happen to anybody really. I saw Paddy McNair do pretty much the exact same thing, which cost Boro a goal, and nobody questions his Championship credentials. But it's happened too often with Moon, and bringing him on in that situation on Saturday was poor. Particularly when you had an option to go straight into RWB (Hondermarck) or another centre half (Halme) on the bench. We were too quick to regard Sibbick as "established", after half a season, where he rarely played 90 minutes (see also Romal Palmer), which meant we let Solbauer go and didn't replace him. This along with injuries to Andersen and Halme, injuries and suspensions to Kitching and Sibbick's disappearance meant that he's played far more than was probably planned for him this season. Along with that, he's been shifted around positionally game by game. So, not only has he been elevated too quickly due to lack of recruitment and too many injuries, he's been expected to make the step up all over the pitch. From what I've seen, his better performances have been at the left of a back 3 (Blackburn and Derby at home), and he might've had a chance if he'd been given a run there, with Helik and Andersen. But he just gets shifted around, to accomodate players that always play the same position. But still, it was a poor decision to bring him on, and I don't really know what positive impact Poya thought that would have on the game.
The way Poya is using him is making him into the scapegoat. He looked promising in his first few games. He's struggling at the minute but that fans need to stop giving him so much stick.
What coach worth his salt changes a back 3 approaching the end of a game when they have kept a clean sheet for 160 plus minutes? Bonkers.
This. It's ridiculous. He had to make a substitution, so bring on someone to play that position, don't shift around your entire defence to accommodate your choice. Shocking decision. One of dozens and dozens from a head coach who is quite clearly failing. It's not about the system he prefers or the personnel, it's that every decision he makes destabilises us and makes us more likely to lose.
Could easily have brought Hondermarck on. Or, before that, he could've taken Brittain off instead of Vita and moved Styles to the position he played last week. When we won. Or, before that, he could've left Brittain on the bench, and had Cole or Marsh on for Bassi, in a single enforced change from a winning team. But, instead, he had to faff about.
You need to get in touch with the club as a matter of urgency. Those idiot professionals, having nurtured him since he was knee height to a grasshopper, clearly don't have a clue. I'm sure they'll thank you for it.
We got him from Leicesters accademy in 2017 he is from coventry so hardly nurtured him from knee height to a grasshopper.
The whole club is being mismanaged. Having said that, I'm simply amazed that the professionals in charge of player development don't consult the members of the BBS more frequently, in order to assess the longer-term potential of their young players. They could weed out those who are clearly not going to make it at a much earlier stage. Save a fortune.
Definatly not the people who have kept playing him the season trying him in new positions changing the defence to bring him on etc. So i would blame them for hindering his development this season not his mum and dad.
They could do a lot worse than come on here for ideas... Like carry on self destructing in the current manner.
