There's a touch of Adolf about Mad Vlad, he won't stop until somebody draws a line in the sand and sticks to it. If he gets away with Ukraine it'll be the Baltic's next and they're on NATO so like with Poland at the start of WW2 we then have to defend them.

 

We have another Hitler on our hands. Usually I'm somewhat of a pacifist, but I think in this case appeasement (i.e. economic sanctions) would be a mistake and will take us further down the road to conflict
At the moment he's making all the plays & we are just reacting. I think we have to make a grand military gesture now.

• Declare Ukraine is now covered under article 5 of Nato agreement (which states 'an ally', not necessarily a member will be defended.
• Alternatively get Ukraine government to invite Nato troops into Ukraine as some pseudo 'peace keeping' force. We should play him at his own game, who cares if there is a valid need, just say there is.

It won't go to war if we call his bluff now, but if we fanny about now he will pick countries off one by one.

 

Don’t be too sure about that as that’s how ww1 started .

I think we are in different times now. WW2 started because nobody stood up to Hitler in the early days. Where do you think Putin will stop,

Quite possible, but again, if Nato don't show strength now, that will happen anyway, sooner rather than later.
China & Russia need to understand that we are serious. Autocrats are on the rise around the world, if we don't stand up now for democracy & freedom, then we will have to later (once Russia & China have carved up the east).
We ought to box clever, and split them. Go and offer China a better deal (for now) than Russia can offer.

 

Why do fruitcakes like Putin think they can do this?
Haven't lessons been learned before now. Why is war posturing considered acceptable in the 21st century.

Definitely in different times but same **** happening .
WW2 started because we did stand up to Hitler eventually but I don’t think Putin has that backing at home that Hitler had .

I don’t know what the answer is but I do know it’ll be a war nobody wins .
