I'd have thought bringing Hondermarck on to replace Brittain at RWB would've been the obvious option. Strong lad with a decent turn of pace and wouldn't have disturbed the 3 in the middle who'd kept a clean sheet for nigh on 180 minutes. Not sure why Hondermarck even makes the bench as Poya doesn't seem to have any intention of giving him game time. A bit like Val with Oduor last season.
There are always going to be idiots who go too far and get personal about players and they're bang out of order. This, however, IS a football forum and opinions are perfectly acceptable about whether a player is currently good enough for the team. Sometimes the management are right, sometimes they aren't. There's a catalogue of players who've represented Barnsley who the manager thought were good enough when the evidence at the time and their subsequent careers proved otherwise. No idea if Moon will make it but he has been badly handled this year and very probably had his career set back. This thread primarily argues that point rather than targeting the player.
Good of someone to start yet another thread about Jasper. He isn’t quite ready but puts his all in. The bad planning from the owners and a succession of half arsed coaching appointments alongside 2 very poor windows have led us to this not an occasional error from Jasper.
I don’t understand why fans aren’t allowed to say he isn’t good enough because he might get upset…. Do we just keep quiet? And hope that he gets better?
I find it strange some players are real scapegoats, brad potts, cavare, thiam, victor but others make costly errors and when fans say there not good enough or shouldnt be anywhere near the 1st team people get all defensive "not there fault" "there only young" etc
I thought Cavare was given an easy ride by many given his lack of want to defend. Mowatt and Woodrow have had a fair bit of stick that I'm not sure has been largely warranted. I think criticism is fine. Its when it turns into something more vitriolic and spiteful that's not especially helpful. We've also got to be careful about absolute statements of their ability. When we had Toney on loan, he was especially unimpressive. Last season he smashed it and is holding his own in the Prem. I think Moon has something about him, it's not that long ago last season that people thought he might be a good young player. Young players make mistakes anyway. If they are under huge pressure, they are all the more likely to struggle. I think what some are saying is its unfair on him that he's struggling but still being out in the position of playing, particularly when given others could be called upon. I think most of us think he should be rested to recoup and refresh before he's put back in the team. With experience alongside him, with better coaching and better man management, he might be a much better player.
With regards cavare he got pelters on here and social media with our fans. Starting in the relegation season some bad stuff after he got sent off against fulham. As regards for not defending he could defend but when he got forward he was often slow to get back but williams and styles have both been guilty of that this season. Cavare was regular in the best defence in league one got the most assists as a defender in league one and was named in the league one team of the season at 23. I agree its a football forum and all about opinions as long as nothing personal is said about a said player its fine to comment on performances. As for toney he did score some important goals for us and was only 19 at the time he had the right attributes to be a top striker strength, pace etc. But again many of our fans wrote him off and when brentford paid 6million for him fans were giving it if toneys 6million whats woodrow worth.... I havent seen much of jasper in the various roles we have tried him at that says he should be near the starting 11 i think a loan out could have aided his development this season but again that is just my opinion.
Cavare didn't even try and defend, that was the issue. And my perception was he was defended by more than saw his woeful attitude, but we all have different views of things. As for Moon, he's not out on loan so it again comes down to our club having a duty of care for our incredibly young squad and we need to look after players and shield them when they need it. It therefore wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Asbaghi picks him to start tonight!
Again the fact the he was in the best defence in league one that season and named in team of the season goes against this and i saw him play week in week out that season and he had a good season. At 23 one year older than jasper moon is now.
We'll have to agree to disagree. Awful player with an awful attitude. He got away with it at league 1, his lack of effort cost us dear in league 1 and was rightly bombed out of the club to some footballing backwater.
Very good player for us that season in league on his assists and odd goal the one last minute against scunny was a good one and the fact he was in the league one team of the season backs this up. He was also linked to norwich city last window so cant be doing too bad. And attitude? I can only remeber him having abit of a temper.
Stendel fell out with him a fair bit, and at times he just played him up front and put cover on at the back because we were wide open. Charlton away I recall vividly where they targeted the big gaping hole where a full back should have been. Given he was always so far up the pitch, his assists and nominal goal count was pretty poor considering. His few media appearances were pretty poor too. A maverick, and not a very good one. Didn't he also get dropped for the last few games of the promotion season? I can't remember where he got offloaded to? Was it Swiss league 2 or something?
It was clearly a mistake by him, or could it also be a consequence of a HC using his subs badly ? I know this , we are not bottom of the league because of individual mistakes by a rookie , why do we not try actually going forward & us getting a winner for a change ? our goals scored record is shocking & what we are saying now is that the defence cannot make any mistakes because for us to win a game we must keep a clean sheet , we are bottom because many players have made mistakes but the biggest mistake is employing wet behind the ears coaches with no experience making a pigs ear of the job , these players got us to the play offs last year so instead of blaming individuals why do we not look at the root cause of the problem , the owners & coaches are the culpable ones . We are desperate for points but last saturday we never tried to win the game & yet the one mistake that cost a goal is the target , if we think that we are good enough to stay up with out scoring goals then the tooth fairy is alive & kicking .
He wasnt ever played upfront and another player to cover. The other right back that season was ben williams who hardly got a kick stendel liked the full backs to push up in the 442. He wasnt always up the pitch thats a myth and if he was so poor that season like you say maybe jordan williams would have got more game time. He was a important player in a good season. And he went to sion in the swiss super league.
