CNN coverage has been good. Shocked they have sent a woman with a young family to a danger zone, but she's been on air from there about a week now.
So you'd prefer Donny in charge would you. The guy who said he'd believe Putin over the CIA. Who was shuffled into power by Russian propaganda and misinformation? The Donny who vowed to bring all US troops home. The Donny who made the North Koreans tremble? Give me a f****ing break.
Nah he was making them rich then , turning a blind eye while they ripped off the nation’s assets. If they start losing assets and money they’ll not be too long in getting rid . However the sanctions this blob of ours has imposed suggests they won’t bother them too much and the Tory Donors will be having a say .
I get where you're coming from but did we care about the income of German businesses during the first two world wars and which is better for the Russian people? Being hit economically until their own country stops behaving like bullies or being attacked with bombs like Syria? Also I don't mean to be rude but I care a lot more for the innocent Ukrainians than I do innocent Russians. It may sound harsh but I just can't agree with pussyfooting around a bully who has already stated he will use nuclear weapons if military action is used to stop him being a bully. If he is scaring people out of using military action then the economic action has to be swift and hard not weak and halfhearted. Ps. Remember there is a very good reason I'm not in charge of a country. I'm not the best decision maker in the world.
The very same. The fact that people can vote Tory leaves me aghast but anyone who can regularly come on here and defend Trump and the Republicans sickens me. And when called out on it they use the same old "well the others are just as bad" line.
You do realise that distinguishing civilians by ethnicity or citizenship is the basis in which some of the most horrifying war crimes of the 20th century were committed? Also, the number of people of mixed heritage and / or dual Russian-Ukrainian citizenship must run into the millions. Where do your sympathies lie there? With regards to economically crippling an autocracy and backing them into a corner, there are some quite strong arguments to suggest that Hitler's ability to mobilise the masses in the lead up to WW2 was precisely because Germany was economically hamstrung, and he was able to present them as being the big victims surrounded by enemies.
I think British citizens will suffer , Company’s will push up prices at any excuse whether affected or not and no Tory Government will attempt to stop them .
Your post highlights the complexity of the present situation in the Ukraine. In the Donetsk region as a whole 57% of the population identify as Ukrainian 39% as Russian. In Donetsk City 48% are Russian and 46% Ukrainian. About 150,000 casualties in the past 8 years as the Ukrainians and the Russians have been at war in the Ukraine. and for today's useless fact - the City of Donetsk was founded by Welshman - John Hughes (like me a proud Merthyr Tydfilian!) -- he built a steel plants there and developed the mining industry.
I'm just listening to the UN meeting and following the Ukrainian defence minster, a Russian representative is speaking. It's incredible. I mean it's so clearly gibberish that even he must know its gibberish. But he's still speaking. But then we've gotten used to ministers talking lies and gibberish and getting away with it.
Nothing like replying to someone engaging in scaremongering there for spreading more scaremongering. Im all stocked up with supplies off to hide in my ww3 bunker now.
Its an old article, but perhaps something of a modest glimpse as to how personally compromised our PM is and why our sanctions are likely to be much weaker than the EU and US. Moscow-on-Thames: Soviet-born billionaires and their ties to UK's political elite | UK news | The Guardian
