Always good to open with a personal insult, really adds a sense of credibility and gravitas to your arguments.

If by "nary a word of response" what you mean is "waltzing into Syria after Trump lets him" then you're bang on. www.ft.com/content/2914f04a-f64b-11e9-a79c-bc9acae3b654

All a bit bizarre. Apparently the conversation goes as the below...

They Ukranian from the car ask the if the have some issues.
    Soldiers: Out of fuel
Ukrainian: we can tow you back to Russia
    Russian soldiers: (laugh)
    Ukrainian: Where you going?
    Russian soldiers: We don't know
Ukrainian: You going to Kiev. For the moment all is in our side... Your people give up easy...

    *drives off*

At least we know which countries are dodgy. We send so much foreign aid to Pakistan with a tone death PM who was excited to visit Putin.

I think this is one of putins major worries, there are a rapidly increasing number of Russian people, particularly the younger generation who quite like the lifestyle they have in a world they can interact with - something that was hidden away from previous generations - he sees that if this continues his power will slip away, it’s completely in his interest for Russia to be isolated, in order he can hide the world from the Russian people. He’s panicking as he’s running out of time as the pendulum will swing too far soon.

This war in his eyes will rally his supporter base, speak to the older generations, reviving images of the evil west and at the same time help isolate the Russian people preventing a sea change of opinion.

Spot on fella. Countries need to make sure they do all they can to keep Russia free of the dictator. Look at how bad the EU have been with dealing with Russia. Donald Tusk has had a proper go at them for wanting to keep Russia in Swift. Italy with the smallest book of world heroes are more worried about sales of their beloved Gucci being affected. Then you have USA with that old senile fella Sleepy Joe in charge annoying the Ukraine PM by offering to get him out of the country when the guy wants more fighting equipment and isn't a coward who wants to abandon his people by going somewhere safer.

For all the faults of Trump this trouble is happening under Biden and Crimea was lost under Obama who was one of the most overated presidents of all time.

Of course you're right. It is the fault of Joe Boden that the deranged Putin has invaded Ukraine. Your saviour was the best thing sliced bread. It must be true because you read it in the daily mail or more specifically on their Twitter page

I think that Brexit was a major contribution to Putin's plan, divide and conquer. Not to mention London providing a safe haven for all Putin's ill gotten cash.

with respect I don’t think the head of the FBI could be accused of being a Democrat plant ,and he pardoned a few of his entourage found guilty of lying to Congressional hearings into the affair , including his former lawyer . I accept your brain donation beats my half a brain cell

It's really laughable that someone who bangs the drum for Trump who spent four years screaming about America first, practicing isolationism, destabilising NATO, vowing and actually pulling troops back from overseas and cosying up to Putin then goes and blames the Democrats for Russian aggression.
Oh, and there's plenty of cold, hard fact about the Trump campaign accepting help from the Russians to influence and destabilise the 2016 election.
I'll continue to file your posts under C for claptrap and casualtyke.

The only minor positive of this thread is that it shows which posters have alerts on for when "Trump" or "Brexit" is mentioned, before charging in here at warp speed to defend and deflect.

I have no doubt that us being in or out of the EU had no bearing on Putin's decision to invade. He's had that on his agenda for years.
I equally have no doubt whatsoever that he was **** a hoop when we left the EU because it was a major step to destabilising a powerful pro democracy block on his doorstep. I'm pretty sure his bot farms would have been working overtime to help bring about brexit

I just think its abit sad that everything that happens in the world gets used on here for political point scoring and people have a obsession with brexit and politics on this board.

And it gets used to kill decent, enlightening discussion. Maybe I'm just older and notice it more, but I've never known it be so divisive around labels or pile ons for certain opinions or sides of a discussion.

Loko, I was brought up by my Dad to be a Tory and it was only in my late teens that I began to see how wrong their policies were. I still wasn't politically motivated really but as years and decades have gone by I've come to be more and more disgusted by right wing and Christian fundamentalist agendas. They are bigoted, divisive and, frankly pretty evil.
There is, in my opinion, no argument on both sides. Yes, there are small c conservatives who may be concerned about the economy as a whole. Fair enough. But when it comes to racial bigotry, exposing individuals to the excesses of banks and financial advisors, rolling back environmental legislation, election denying, anti lgbt legislation, resistance to social care you will find that predominantly on the right of any debate.
I refuse to be expected to accept those views as tolerable. They're not. They're disgusting. And I and many others will continue to say so.
Please don't equivocate and say but Biden. The Democrats, Labour are a long way from perfect but there are no balanced scales here. One side is far, far worse than the other.
So it's not a "pile on". Thankfully there are still enough people to take offence at the policies of Trump and Johnson and their ilk.
