Cauley Woodrow is hoping to play again this season after he recovers. After today and the team seemingly showing a bit more fight, who would be the one to make way for him? Start on the bench and then replace Morris later in game or something else
Bassi and Quina won’t always be able to run the show like they did today and against Hull. With Woodrow back we’ve got options for once and can drop Morris deeper. A club in our position can never be short of quality options. I thought Cole struggled when he came on today but it’s not his fault he’s been asked to play in the Championship when our backs are against the wall.
Cole was dreadful when he came on today, and the lack of effort from him off the ball was really frustrating. Whilst we’re bringing people like Cole on, there will always be a place for Cauley in this side. Can’t wait for him to come back.
Agreed. He was only on for 20 minutes if you include injury time. He should have been running himself in to the ground. Running around like a headless chicken after every ball. Instead he was jogging around on and off the ball like it was a training session, apart from his one greedy moment when he went on a run and didn't pass.
With players around him like Morris Bassi and Quinta CW would be a completely different proposition to the one we saw in the first half of the year with Cole, Iseka and Vic to support him. Just saying.
All three of our subs were poor and that's our biggest problem. When's the last time we brought a sub on who actually performed well? Apart from marsh I can't think of one
There is such a huge chasm between what Morris brings and any of our other strikers, as evidenced by Carlton's first half performance and Cole's 'towing' appearance from the bench today. So Woodrow would easily take Devante's place for starters, then take it from there. We are really cream-crackered though if CM picks up another injury.
You thought Brittain was poor today? I thought he looked quite good, particularly with the pressure Boro were putting us under.
I’d still like to see Woodrow up top next to Morris, I think that is a partnership that would strive. Could push Bassi slightly further back I guess. Someone of Cauley’s quality isn’t getting left out of the match day squad, that’s for sure.
I thought our other two subs did quite well when they came on. Fresh legs seemed to work with those two, especially Brittain.
Cole looked knackered after about 5 minutes to me. Can't take the overall performance away from the team today though. I thought we played really well. Credit where its due.
The problem was when Cole came on the vast majority of our outfield players were absolutely shattered and were out on there feet so sadly that reflected badly on Cole
Mystified? This is the first time in his career Morris has been asked to be a target man. He made a great fist of it yesterday because the balls played in to him weren’t punts at his head, but the formation is so fluid he was allowed to drift deep a few times and get involved because that’s what he prefers. He’s much more comfortable when he can be involved in the game and face the defenders rather than have his back to goal. Because he’s strong people assume he’s a target man.
Cole looked like he was running in quicksand. I thought his biggest attribute was pace but he didn’t have it yesterday
I think kitching is just a poor poor player in general. No better than Jasper moon and he demonstrated that with their second goal. Brittain was the better of the three but was hardly tearing them a new one for a sub against tired legs.
If he is available to play again this season (and it quite a big if), he won’t be able to start straight away anyway. He would strengthen our bench though. If he was available now, he’d probably be rotating with Quina and Bassi in the three games we have in a week from next weekend.
