Leisure is an absolute fantastic album. Listened to it quite a bit, though it was Modern Life is Rubbish that really got me into Blur.

Still gets voted as the best compilation ever made.

I pinch myself every day that I've been lucky enough to have DJd with them both on multiple occasions (Taken over from both Sasha and John) and I speak to them both every now and again on the phone.

If I take myself back to the early 90s I never left my house without those tapes in my pocket. Massive heroes of mine. I've never told them that like, I'm far too cool to do it :)

Renaissance completely blew my mind back then, and still does now. It wasn't just way ahead of its time, as others still haven't caught up, it was on a completely different level. The audacity to do three mixes of the same track right at the start set the tone perfectly. It demanded attention, no flicking through, no passive listening, just behold this masterpiece and go on the journey. Plus the artwork was awesome. I know I've got it on CD and mostly vinyl l but still love the tapes best even though I'm not sure i can even play them anymore!

For me, the thread title would be more apt if it was 'soundtrack since your teenage years', as my musical taste hasn't really altered since I was about 14.

It has been influenced heavily by the soundtrack to the American Pie films and Tony Hawk video games.

Tony Hawk games had some great tunes, this was a personal favourite, I think it was on THPS2...

Bands I like include: Rancid, Dropkick Murphy's, Dead Kennedys, Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Sublime, Teenage Bottlerocket, Flogging Molly, Misfits, the Offspring, Blink 182, the Explosion. The connection? They've all had songs on either Tony Hawk or Dave Mirra video games.

I wouldn't have even heard of more than half of those bands if it wasn't for those games.

Exactly that, video games opened my ears up to some amazing stuff back in the 90s and 00s.

That's how it has been for me really. I do like some newer bands at 40 but I still mostly listen to the bands I did in my teenage years and still like the same genres as I did then. Saying that, I have always had quite a mixed taste in terms of instrumental hip hop, rock/ grunge, hip hop, metal, dance and American indie music.
