Part of defending though is to attack and keep the ball up the pitch. Our attacks have been almost non existent, only one chance when the goalie saved from one on one with Morris. Midfield can't get hold of the ball, Styles can't keep hold of the ball and Bassi has forgotten what a ball looks like such is the poor service to him. Yes, very big second half needed but they look a shadow of last week's team
Derby looked far better than their form suggests, especially down the left with Ebosele and Lawrence. Wolfe is understandably hampered by his booking. Quina and Bassi not yet got into the game. Nothing coming off for Styles and Brittain but that could change. Barnsley need to buck recent trends and have a second half that is better than their first. Rooney is playing Plange and Barnsley are playing utter plange.
Can’t get any worse than that and the score is only 1-0. We must change our tactics and get further up the field you’d have thought we were playing top of the league with the way we set up that half
Exactly this; I had accepted relegation and back to league 1 before they got my hopes up. Back to reality again. Hate/ love football.
Tactics terrible , too many players not at the races , half hearted tackles , wrong decisions in good areas , very very sloppy in possession , giving away team too much room . Other than that ?
Yes agreed this is dreadful from us. It's like we've never met before. Derby all over us ... but they aren't very good either.
Too many have not shown up today so far. Styles, Quina, Bassi for example. We can't win games unless enough of them put a shift in. Pitch isn't helping tbh.
Thankfully not witnessing this - on holibobs in Brid - but only saving grace is that if results stay this way, not too much damage has been done. It's realistically 3 from the bottom 4 and Reading wouldn't have made any progress. Three home games in a week to come - who knows??
Of course it can get worse. How long have you been watching us. Recently our first half performances have been better than 2nd half so I’m not sure Poya can turn it round.
Poya needs to revise his strategy. We've got points recently by getting at teams, not by sitting back. The loss of one defender shouldn't matter too much - just stick to doing the things that work. Derby's points tally may be unrepresentative, but that doesn't mean we should be treating them like world beaters. COYR!
Superb goal and not offside. That’s my take on it watching the replays. And slack as anything from our lot but sums up that first half, which they all watched in a daze
We’ll see. It normally gets worse after we’ve been competitive (ish). We weren’t that in the first half.
Exactly, it's the deepest we've been in the first half since Poyas first few games. We need to go for it in the second half and give Derby something to think about.
Derby look on another level to us. Can see how they've only lost 3 here all season. We seem to be man short every time we go forward, as if we're scared of committing - which is unforgivable. We need to win. We have to commit more men forward in the second half.
Went for a draw conceded the inevitable goal now towing to get back into it. They've lost the last couple of games we've won the last two but gave the then the initiative at the start.
