Been mentioned plenty. But that’s a mis kick from somebody desperately trying to clear the ball quickly. Wouldn’t have been an issue if Cole had shown the same desperation

Never been championship standard and never will. Weak as water, lazy and poor attitude I think. For a bloke of 6'1" can't say I've ever seen him head the ball yet.

First thread of the morning mate I’ve looked at. Looking back a couple of mentions. But the one that says Vita, has it wrong. It was Gomes. (Just for clarification)
Agree with your assessment. I’m still gutted and my head isn’t clear yet lol.

Totally agree. I would have been amazed at the substitution of Bassi, had it not been Asbaghi who was making the decision. It made no sense at all.

I do feel like Cole is the whipping boy, but why does one player get a free pass for a schoolboy clearance and the other is assassinated online for a lack of urgency to clear? It was poor, really poor, but I didn't see teammates shouting that he had a man on and making him aware.

Even in my friendly five-a-side we'd shout for someone to hit it first time if under pressure. Complete lack of leadership again. All roads lead back to......

That's all fair, and the lack of leadership is especially true.

But my point about the hashed clearance is, while it's schoolboy and shouldn't happen, I'd rather somebody make a mistake while trying to do the right thing, than lose the ball by being too casual.

But the lack of leadership is crucial. Nobody in the middle of the pitch, or even the defence to help keep the players calm. Poya's attitude to sitting deep to defend the lead doesn't help either. We defended countless leads last season by not leting ball get in our half.

Valid question though isn't it? Is it Poya's attitude making us sit deep or is it just natural for a team that doesn't win a lot of football matches, are lacking leadership, and where the pressure on three points is so vital, to drop deep? Considering we see it week in week out all over the country when the underdog has a narrow lead or the team in a more desperate situation is winning.

A hashed clearance is just as bad in my opinion. Cole doesn't even get involved if someone can simply kick a ball straight and 40 yards up the pitch. Cole's application was poor, but I don't think he knew he had a player right on him - although he should have been more aware.

Well Poya did say in the post match press conf to Doug O'Kane

Asbaghi on sitting deep late on: "we have had the lead in games before and sat back to protect it in a good way, today we didn’t do it and when you reflect you feel you should have been higher. We sat back in the last ten or 15 minutes which is normal for a team that is leading"

Not sure I agree about it being normal - maybe it is for his teams but there are quite a lot that dont and the ones that do don't pull everyone back so there is no outlet. Had Cole been up by the half way line for example they would have had to put at least one man back almost certainly the one that Cole failed to beat and things could have been different - not to mention we would have at least have a chance of relieving pressure

I'm still gutted. Can't get Cole trying to swivel his man out of my mind.

ps we have lost points late on in games against Coventry and last night and were fortunate Boro scored so late so 3 of the last 5 games Only Hull did we look comfortable in the last few minutes of those games maybe we need to look at the idea of putting everyone behind the 18 yard line again

It's one quote on Twitter and replied to this elsewhere already so apologies for repeating myself (should have merged the threads!). I think he's explaining what happens in most football matches and what we've seen ourselves do, and other teams do against us, for years.

The better teams don't. But almost always the underdogs or the unlikely winners have to fight tooth and nail to protect a lead and seal a victory. You nearly always get the last ten minute onslaught in a game where one team hasn't dominated the other. It's also not necessarily him pulling the players back, which I think is the point he's making?

All down to interpretation I guess but I would challenge you saying it isn't normal, as reasoned above.

He (Cole) must have known he was marked to attempt the swivel/turn whatever it was?

Maybe. he should have done. but might have also thought he was turning in to space. He's at fault, but not more or less than the scuffed clearance.

I bet Mowatt would have screamed for him to get shut first time. And definitely Soll.

Just so gutting. I've a feeling if it does get close this will be the moment we all remember. It's taken my mind off the QPR winger not being put into the stand at Loftus Road.

Wrong man in the wrong place trying to do the wrong thing. Our seasons been littered with mistakes and bad choices by much better players than Cole.
We need to forget about it and move on.

If ever there was a stick to beat a player with that goal last neet aint it.

I hate Devante Cole shirts should be available in the club shop, they`d sell like hot flatbreads.

I like that the players came up with two banks of 5 for the last 15 mins or so, when they have all on putting a couple of passes together. Couldn`t possibly have been Poya could it, No Nay Never.
