That was a really, really poor moment from Devante. I'm disappointed in that. He's somehow our 2nd option up front at the minute. We need Iseka and Victor back ASAP.
It's just the latest instalment of our bizarre transfer dealings where we sign a bucket tonne of a particular position, change coaches, who then prefer a different system requiring different types of players. Compounding that, we seem to have loaned out so many of them, and now had mystical injuries to others that we're left with just two forwards when we've had around a dozen.
Is that correct? What a sobering thought. Edit: I've just checked. Woodrow and Morris have 4, Iseka and Victor have 3. Grim.
I think Poya is a very cautious coach, and his comments read like he wanted to sit on the lead, presumably because he'd seen us not create anything for 70 minutes until Quina got something from nothing. But he should know, that we cannot sit and defend. We eventually make a mistake or lose our discipline for a vital moment. He should've learned that lesson from his very first game, then again at Coventry, and we conceded in injury time against Boro as well. But even then, once we'd got to injury time, I'm not sure what he thought he was going to get from Cole to help see the game out, particularly after having a sighter of it against Boro.
My bad, forgot about Woodrow's goal in his last game. To be fair, it was a game to forget, like most this season.
And then look at how may goals our midfielders have contributed over the season. That redefines the word, grim.
Is it just the two from Quina? (Does he even count as a midfielder, never can be sure of our formation!)
Its open to debate if you class Bassi and Quina as forwards. Then you've also got Styles with 2, but he's played all over the place as well.
Cauley also has scored more than Victor , but if you think that Victor is a championship striker then you are entitled to your opinion, my thoughts are that he is a likeable player who tries his best but his career record sums him up .
Do I think he'll ever get 15+ goals a season in the Championship? No. Nor would I want him to be a regular starter. Would he be useful to bring on for the last 15-20 minutes, as fresh legs to cause the opposition problems? Probably, particularly for a club on our budget where we can't really afford to have 4 or 5 proven Championship strikers. Would he be a better option than Cole? Definitely.
The new Chief exec is nothing but a puppet for the charlatans who really run this club . Meetings he has had and will have, are nothing more than lip service to the happy clappers. He and the owners need to be held account for the disastrous summer dealings and they’re idiotic reason for selecting coaches !
Yeah Victor is a useful squad player. Bring him off the bench occasionally to cause problems and he's decent. When you look at Oulare, Oduor, Cole, Miller, Schmidt, Green, Thiam, Payne, Lee - most of those will have cost us more in fees and wages and were no use when trying to chase a game. I hope he gets a contract extension.
He was up against a tired and aging Jagielka. When your options are severely limited, but you know you have to make a change, you've got to hope you can get a tune out of a player just for a 15 minute cameo. When I saw Cole come on against those two Stoke CBs I thought it made total sense - allowing us to clear our lines knowing someone who should be faster and more agile than Morris (85 minutes in to a game) would be there to stretch them. You can't legislate for scuffed clearances and poor anticipation within 25 yards of your own goal though.
I mean, you're not wrong. But the CEO only joined in September so wasn't part of the Summer recruitment. Our most impressive two players at the moment, in terms of giving us a chance of staying up, were brought in during the January window though. I think you're massively over egging the involvement of 'the charlatans' by the way. I think this 'puppet' talk is just reactionary and not really based in much substance, whilst your reference to happy clappers couldn't be factually more incorrect if you tried.
He actually played pretty well in the games before he got injured. Arguably our 3rd best striker after Woodrow and Morris - Iseka may have more talent but Victor works really hard and has improved. Cole isnt as good and doesnt have the attitude either May be relying on Victor next season as I cant see Woodrow and Morris being here which is a worrying thought, as I have him as a decent squad player not first choice striker even in L1
A certain striker for Fulham has 35. Should I really get up at 4:15 on Saturday to watch us on ESPN+?
Agreed the two new players are impressive. But let’s face it, Dwayne Mattiss and Corbo would look good in this team. It seems you have a bit of a crush on the new CEO pal. He can do do no wrong in your eyes. The owners have spit their dummies out because they cannot get their grubby hands on the stadium.
