yes he could, he could think about who he had to put on the bench to start with, and not include Palmer or Benson for a start. He consistently weakens the team with his substitutions
Halme for one, you could whistle 3 blokes out of the crowd that would be better than the others, yet he keeps sticking the buggers on the bench!
He went with Palmer & Benson to try & keep up the pressing from the front. Halme is not mobile or sharp enough yet coming off the back of an injury. Had we been sitting deep he might have been an option, but we would have conceded more than 1 in my opinion.
Not his fault. The depth is so bad, but half team was knackered. Has to make subs but the bench is so poor
Palmer and Benson are no world beaters but they are 22 years old and professional footballers . First and foremost they should be able run for more than 5 seconds without giving in , secondly they should be able to kick the ball in some kind of forward direction.
The more I read this post the more I despair….. ffs Benson/Palmer cost us today and defo not Asbaghi, we had to make subs we were blowing out of our arses after putting in a great deal of effort.
I can understand why he felt the need to make changes, Bassi was struggling to break forward when we got the ball, and a Wolfe on a yellow as they put us under more pressure was a danger. But I would’ve put Halme and Hondermarck on. One to add some physicality to midfield and the other to keep the energy up. Benson in particular is a worry. He’s very lightweight and doesn’t seem to know what sort of player he’s supposed to be.
Yes I’ve been critical of the manager in recent games but I don’t really know what he could have done without Styles Woodrow Williams and even Victor we can’t avoid weakening the team when we bring replacements on.
