I hate to criticise players but Benson showed the speed of a milk float, the effort of a stoner, the positional awareness of a compass on the North pole and the coordination of an inflatable wavy arms man.

You could feel his anger and frustration in that interview.

Towie boy is absolute dog ****. I wouldn't want him in my village pub side. He should go down in legend in the same breath as Shea and Frimpong.

Don’t know who is worse at the moment, him or Palmer. Both an absolute joke at the minute.

For me, Benson shows how naive our recruitment was in the summer, the sheer stupidity of trying to change the playing style so drastically, and a big issue with the academy system.

He’ll have played in Burnley’s u23s, been given all the time in the world and probably spent games spraying balls around from in front of the back 4, and we thought we could have someone do that in the Championship. Unfortunately it’s a very physical league that won’t give time for somebody to play a quarterback role. And without that time on the ball, he pretty much has nothing.

Gomes was equally naive at the start of the season, but he’s learned and improved as the season went on.

Don’t forget Benson’s debut at Cardiff though. That long diagonal pass for Toby to run onto was sublime, as was the finish. What went wrong? He showed he can pass a ball. It’s just the rest of the game he has trouble with.

I simply refuse to accept that either of Palmer or Benson are better options than Kane would've been had he been here

I loved Poya and Carltons passion in the interviews.
Palmer has totally failed to kick on this season and Benson just looks like he just doesn't fit in or know what's expected of him, terribly weak performance today from them both.

The question on this one isn’t about ability but mentality. For some reason as a fan base we’re refusing to consider the latter and look at it with an open mind

    Two responses to that Ben:
    1. You're surely not suggesting that Palmer and in particular Benson look highly motivated?
    2. It's the manager /coaches job to find a way to get the best out of each player. Man management is about finding a way - perhaps Kane wanted to feel wanted, perhaps he needed a kick up the ar*e - I don't know the answer. But I do know that he couldn't be any worse.
As an aside, I'd have much preferred Halme in there today rather than either of them.

Not sure on question/point one but I would say perhaps you’re massively speculating but talking as fact? Would also say maybe I’m interpreting your post wrong. Regardless though, it’s true that the majority never consider the bigger picture

I don't understand - what am I massively speculating about? And stating as fact?
Ironic though that you're stating as fact that the majority never consider the bigger picture. Isn't that just your opinion?

He’s been bad but posts like this are a bit much.

Criticising in a constructive way (or even just criticism) is okay but calling players c-words and telling them to f-off is poor in my opinion.

You’re speculating that he needed a man manager, an arm around him, or however you phrased it. We don’t know that do we? We do know that he was struggling for form, struggling for fitness, and has massively benefited from breaking from Barnsley, getting out of the spotlight, and dropping a level.

It’s a huge assumption to say he would come back in to our setup, in our position, and be happy and perform. Maybe he would, but speculation to suggest it as if it’s a given and a no brainier.

Nothing ironic mate. There’s not much out there to suggest some of our supporters do t look at the bigger picture.

I’d normally agree with this type of post but him bottling a tackle has cost us 2 points today and I totally get the anger. Not being good enough is fine, but what he did today will take a long time to forgive in many eyes. Including mine.
