    I rarely drink in the house but occasionally ill have a beer with my tea before a night match then one in the ground before the game. If a Preston fan comes in my house with his mucky shoes on while I'm having a drink hes getting twatted and you can call me what you want.

    I remember, they all came in bowler hats or domethin
    I remember prior to Covid, Preston decided that their annual ‘ Gentry day’ or something like that, was on their visit to Barnsley. Apparently they wear Bowler hats or similar. SYP allowed them into Tarn and unfortunately many groups of Preston ‘fans’ used it as an opportunity to basically be dickheads and unsurprisingly trouble flared up in various places in Tarn. So I’m guessing this will have had a bearing on the Tarn ‘away fan ban’

    I'm not saying the supporters club coaches were involved in trouble back then, although there were always one or two dodgy characters at the back of the bus. My gripe was ALWAYS having to stop at a pub on the way to a game to get beer down the neck and consistently getting to the match barely in time or late and then having to stop for a couple of hours on the way back.
    Used to drive me nuts. :)

    Its weird isn't it? Been to loads of gigs where people were so smashed there's no way the would remember any of it - great way to spend £100 on tickets and transport for something you won't remember......people's idea of what constitutes a "good time" is bonkers if you take the trouble to stand back and think about it,

    Spot on. When I had a season ticket and started going to Barnsley and it got to 2:50 and I thought f c kit I'll stay in the Mount. I knew it was time to pack in.

    I think there is a chance of a mountain being made out of a mole hill here, I read the article early this morning from a Preston newsnow report & it is basically saying that there are no designated away fans pubs in Barnsley it did not say that Preston fans were barred from coming into the town whilst it did suggest it might be an alternative to stop off somewhere else on route but SYP have not stopped them from coming . Middlesborough fans regularly stop off at Hoyland Common when they are visiting the Reds or either of the Sheffield clubs & Rotherham , they pre book & there is never any problems , I think it is actually a good idea because if you are pre booked then obviously you are already made welcome which is very reassuring when there might be children in the party .

    In the past Preston fans have stopped off in Penistone on their way over (and on the way back) after arranging it with the pubs concerned prior to the day

    When I was there a big away following would be Gloucester City or Cheltenham Town - few hundred. I think they are still new to the concept of thousands wanting to visit.

    El Glossico is the record crowd I believe (FGR vs. Cheltenham).

    Bristol Rovers was well attended, as was Bradford. Thing about FGR as a league club is that nobody has ever seen their team play though so it's quite a popular away day. With only a couple of pubs in the town I'm hoping the new bar I've just put in the away end will do some roaring trade next season (and keep these neanderthals, which every team has, away from the locals).

    Ipswich took 7,500 to MK Dons the other week. Some huge followings on the horizon.

    I think they call it their "Gentry Day" ? Most of them turn up suited and booted.
    Come to think of it, i can well recall West Brom fans' beach parties in the late 80's, early 90's. They were a good atmosphere both in the pubs and the ground.

    When we travel away we (as do Courthouse Hoyland East Dene etc) get a call from SYP football copper. We have to stop off 10 miles or more away from the ground. They regularly call in the town/village to make sure we're their. Other season we stopped in Leigh which was only 8-9 miles away and had to get designated pub and inform them.

    Then this season I've seen multiple away coaches dropping off in our town centre?!? It doesn't make sense to me like.

    Why would you want any government restricting what you can and can't do? Banning people's hobbies? It's madness. Yes, there's a minority who spoil it for everyone. But that goes for every single thing people enjoy. I'm starting to sound like a freedom-loving american, I apologise for that, but your comment just amazed me
