There's a young lass catches the train at Bolton on Dearne and changes at Fitzwilliam to get to Adwick every morning. On an evening she has to catch the train to Doncaster, then Swinton. That in itself tells how rubbish services are.

Chance would be a fine thing, especially on the Penistone Line. Just before covid lots of money was spent to make platforms long enough to fit three carriages as not every station could accommodate. But we still only get two carriages on the line so they wasted their time and money.

What annoys me about that is that basically EVERY station can already accommodate 3 carriages can't they? Open doors to carriage 1 and 2 and then roll forward and open door 3.

    Try living in great Houghton.

Your lucky to see a bus. And when you do, it either goes nowhere you need to, or in any reasonable length of time.

Your right, I have zero incentive to give up a car. Unless I want to waste half my life waiting for, or hopping between many to get anywhere

None of them make it past Dorothy's house just like how the speed bumps mysteriously disappeared outside her house too. Gotta love local councillors...

I got sick of the speed bumps outside mine when I was on high street.

I moved. Down the Barrat estate so I could get some kip

I bet you could hear the rumble as they went over the fake brick pattern couldn't you? I wouldn't be able to handle that at night

Yeah, cos that one was smack outside my house. Especially arctic going over at 3 in morning. Made entire house shake. Hence when youngest was born I didn't hang around. Cos his bedroom was at front.

People should be absolutely taking to the streets about this. We literally saw intra-day price increases a week ago. Yet it takes days to see those prices come down, if in fact they come down at all. All while BP are announcing profits in the billions.

The below is from February 8…

"BP’s chief executive has dismissed rising calls for a windfall tax on fossil fuel companies to help UK households weather the record surge in global gas prices after his company made its biggest profits in eight years.

The FTSE 100 oil giant swung to a profit of $12.8bn (£9.45bn) for last year, from a loss of $5.7bn the year before, after cashing in on historic highs in the market price for gas and oil which have fuelled a cost of living crisis for Britons.

BP’s profits for the final quarter of last year leapt 35-fold to $4.1bn, from a modest profit of $115m in the same period last year, as gas prices across global markets reached new all-time highs, and the international oil price reached a seven-year record towards the end of the year. Its chief executive, Bernard Looney, has said that BP becomes a “cash machine” at those prices.

The historic profits have put BP shareholders in line for a $1.5bn share buyback in the first quarter of this year."

Bet old Looney is even happier today...

I've just spent £700 putting 400 litres in 2 of our coaches. Thats only two days worth of fuel. It's simply money we can't make back.

It's ok... DePfeffel is off to Saudi to sort it all out. Thank goodness we're shifting resources away from a murderous tyrannical regime *ahem*

Do you have your own fuel storage or do you use the regular fuel stations? If so do you use a particular fuel card?

We usually buy in bulk, usually 4000 litres per week. Our fuel bill has risen by around £1,000 per week in the last month. It's unsustainable because most bookings were made months ago and if we introduce a surcharge we'll lose more business. I feel like locking the gates.
