Interesting. He must be truly awful in training.

I can see what he’s saying about Hondermarck. The little I’ve seen of him, he’s shown some strengths, but after winning the ball and sometimes driving forward with it. He gave it away every time.

That said, Poya could follow Ismael’s example with him and take away any decision making, if he came on with us in front.

Win ball. Kick ball forward. Chase ball. Repeat. Would be an improvement on Benson’s lose ball, don’t chase back, concede.

I suspect that would do more harm than good.

Yeah, I'd probably prefer to push Quina up front than Halme, if Morris can't play.

I think he's got potential just hasn't been given a chance in the last few years

Yeh I mean just because the lad is tall and can hold the ball up and tackle, it doesn't mean he's going to convert well to a centre forward! Are folk expecting him to run into the channels like Morris does too?

We could always play Helik at centre forward.

It's that cheap lager that's caused the injury.

I had him Man of the Match in both the Fulham and the Bristol City games. Such a lot is demanded of him in terms of holding the ball up and being the link through which defence converts to attack. We don't have another player who does it so well. Cauley is okay at it, but probably better as a withdrawn 9 role; Victor has the physical attributes and could do it, but is injured; Cole is not that style of player at all and, if he plays there v Blunts, we will do well to get out of our half of the field. No overall criticism of Devante, but his skills are better used in a front two, or three, where he can make runs off the other player(s). Presumably Vic has fractured his cheekbone??? Otherwise, you would have thought it was playable. I recall Tony Leighton playing in a rugby scrum cap for an important cup tie when at Huddersfield. Would that work for Vic? He has the best attributes for the single striker/target man behind Morris. Desperate remedy - Halme playing up front as single striker????? No, I know - not the brightest idea, but maybe needs must?? I just hope that Morris is fit enough to start and to play most of the ninety minutes. We'll need him in this game more than any other, for sure.

I don't recall Tony Leighton playing in a srum cap but I like your recollection of him. I remember watching (from the Ponty) seeing him run onto a through ball

I totally agree, Morris has been excellent in the last couple of games in particular. He was even defending in the left back position at one point, he covers so much ground and we will desperately miss him if not available. But I do think the Reading game is more crucial for obvious reasons. And Halme isn't the answer up front, neither is Helik. Now isn't the time to be going all experimental champ-man style.

The difference is that Leighton was a proper old centre forward , hard as nails & new where the net was, Victor is totally opposite , he has never played well when starting a game, he is better off in cameo roles off the bench , he has never lead the line well & has always struggled to find the net, coupled with the fact that he will be short of match fitness , its a no no for me .

We didn’t do him any favours by playing himout wide on the right, almost in a wing- back position. My understanding that he plays he doesn’t usually play in that position and is more of a forward that plays on the shoulder of the defenders

Yes that had crossed my mind, but we had arguably a weaker team that day (Halme, Iseka, Palmer all started and no Quina). We also have very limited options if Morris is out - i'd start Marsh over Cole.
