Emergency incident closes busy railway station A major incident is ongoing in #Barnsley this evening after what is thought to be a chemical related incident. A number of people were thought to have received burn type injuries following a release of a corrosive chemical. Other had become poorly after breathing fumes from the unknown substance. South Yorkshire Fire sent DIM unit a specialist vehicle from Sheffield, that can identify what chemical emergency teams are dealing with, along with a pump from Barnsley. The ambulance sent a number of their HART units who have training in dealing with serious chemical and corrosive injuries. The British Transport Police had a number of units on the scene and the Station has been closed to all users and no trains were stopping.
Did anyone ever watch Utopia on C4? Part of it was filmed in Tarn bus station and it's a conspiracy theorist's wet dream - a shadowy cabal decides that it's in the interests of humanity to reduce the population so they fake a foreign flu variant in order to introduce a vaccine that sterilises people. If Casual Tyke saw it he'd **** himsen silly
Facebook says it's open, mind u it also says last night's events were down to Putin and Barnsley hospitals were on emergency nuke level and it's all been hushed up, so who knows.......
It's clearly an attempt by dem blunts to prevent reds fans getting to bumhole lane so they can win the "most travelling fans" argument.
This prompted me to go to on the Stagecoach Twitter account and the first thing I see is this: Some things never change. Can I request that if you are the cause of this, or you know someone who is, can you please stop or tell them to do so. As well as it being abuse the drivers don’t need, it also puts people at risk having to walk much further in the dark, or stops them from being able to go out and about at all. I really don’t miss having to walk through Grimey alone on an evening to/from where the last bus terminates. Taxis were never an affordable option so walking was the only way. Edit: For people who don’t know, there is an elderly estate in Grimethorpe and they are completely cut off from the village when this happens. If no buses go into and out of Grimey, none go through either.
I've been young before what seems like an eternity ago and not once do I remember ever thinking oh look at that bus, wouldn't it be cool to attack it. Then again I never looked at a bus shelter and thought this would be better if I smashed the window and had to stand in it broken tomorrow either. Would be interested to hear from any bbsers who did used to do things like this and find out why they did think it was fun? I guess that's the only way to stop future generations doing it
The one I used to stand at in Royston to go to Rooftops was smashed and reglazed on a weekly basis, don't think we can claim smashing bus shelters is a modern phenomenon. Phone boxes were the same.
As an aside, I was actually explaining to an 18 year old at work, the concept of a phonebox and the fact that there was a time in my lifetime that mobile phones did not exist. They genuinely thought I was winding them up.
They'd close the whole station for a drill? Imagine what would happen if it was something bigger like a chainsaw!!
I can’t see where anyone did say that? We’re all referring to how it’s happened for ages and how it can be stopped.
There was an article in the chronicle about this, see link https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/22498/probe-into-disrupted-bus-services-launched
