Good man. Anything is possible with Lewis. It wasn't looking likely when he wasn't even in the top ten.
Indeed. I think that report dropping just before Qualy may explain why Max was even more unpleasant on the radio than usual.
Certainly since he went to mercedes I've found it never pays to bet against Lewis. Once they sort his car him and Russell will make it an interesting season, three way fight
As opposed to Lewis? Let's be honest here, if you take your rose tinted glasses off they're both spoiled little kids on the radio.
Agree about our national anthem time it was changed to Jerusalem something rousing brings shivers to my spine when it’s sang well.
I think that when the queen dies there will be bigger calls to change it. Personally though I do t think Jerusalem is suitable either. With just under two thirds of Britons not being Christian it just seems wrong for a song about religion to be the national anthem. It's sad that the main options seem to be God save the Queen, land of hope and glory and Jerusalem. All of which have religious connections.
I don't think they are anything alike on the radio, at all. They aren't alike as personalities, full stop. When Verstappen* was beaten by Hamilton (despite his dirty driving) in Saudi last year, he walked off the podium in a strop. When Lewis was absolutely shafted by 'human error', costing him a record 8th WDC, he took it better than anyone could ever have imagined. Levels. Well done to Ferrari today. They deserved that one-two. Was lovely to see Red Bull come unstuck. If only Masi had still been here, maybe he could have manipulated (human error) the results, again. Mercedes have a lot of work to do, hopefully by Australia, but perhaps even as late as Imola. And then we should get a three-way fight for both titles, and who knows, maybe Haas and others could keep pushing too? Exciting times.
Lewis is famous for his whines on the team radio. Their personalities in general aren't similar but they do both share some traits, I guess that is the winning mentality that separates people like them from the rest. Actually Seb was very similar with his whining on the team radio when he was in a top car. Is it a coincidence that that seems to have stopped since he accepted he wasn't challenging for championships anymore? Schumacher was the same, so was Nico when he was in the Merc, Alonso when he couldn't accept McLaren weren't giving him what he expected etc. The Masi situation I find funny because he absolutely did shaft Lewis in order to create a grand stand finish but he also made a bizarre call at the beginning of the race in Lewis's favour, in my opinion also to create an exciting race. Obviously with one being right at the end of the race AND being a much more clear breach of the regulations it got more focus but the absolute berk had been making terrible decisions for a while in favour of both teams. Should have been removed from his post a few races ago and the situation would never have happened. I don't think mercedes will sort their problems out till Europe but I think once they do they will be run away leaders again. Their car is so revolutionary that when they can sort their teething problems out I think it wil be unstoppable which would be bad for racing but I don't think anyone could bemoan Lewis getting the break he needs to get that 8th title after last year.
Most drivers can come across as whining on the radio. I think it's best to remember the level of skill involved in what they are doing and the physical demands, then dealing with pressure and strategy. It's probably hard to sound calm (unless you're Kimi) I just thought today Max was extra aggressive towards the team and although they knew this is when the report would come out the wording won't have been taken well at Red Bull.
