Tried it for the first time this weekend and have to say I really liked it. 4 x 660 ml bottles from Morrisons for nine quid. (Same as at ASDA) Nice flavour and a good long drink. Is this a good beer in your opinion and also is this a decent price? 5.2% btw.
Was a fan at first, now only like it from a can, not draft (but that is probably down to the appalling cellar management at the Potting Shed where I drank it. Not keen on Lost. Loved the Velvet Cake at Xmas. And always happy to try new brands as and when they come out and take part in the voting process.
It's all down to personal taste at the end of the day. I'm not much help on this one as I'm not a fan of IPA's generally, particularly anything that has a floral or dry hop finish. My missus generally isn't a fan of the brewdog IPA's she's tried. Vocation (from Hebden Bridge) tend to be decent value and she speaks highly of those (I think Love and Hate, Hop Skip Juice and think there's another but the name escapes me... Bread and Butter maybe?). She can get Jaipur down pretty well too which I think tend to be in supermarkets now. It's a huge market with loads of range now, so my advice would be to be brave, test your tastebuds and see what you enjoy.
Just as a very quick tangent, having tested negative for Covid for several days, I decided to go out on my own on Sunday. Felt very weird without my other half, but I know she would have done the same in my position.... indeed, when we spoke over facetime on Saturday, she encouraged it. Anyway, I ventured to one of our favourite bars and they had a whole series of Acorn beers on. Sadly Gorlovka was waiting to be teed up, so I had a pint of Barnsley Bitter. First time I've seen it in London, but glad they managed to get a few kegs/casks to the capital, and it was certainly popular with the locals.
I like the Punk AF non-alcoholic but the frequent controversies surrounding BrewDog (some seemingly overblown, others not so much) have left me reaching for beers from other brewers in recent years.
Ignoring the controversies around the brand it's alright beer, but you can get a lot better for not much more. I'm not trying to put it down - it's a lot of people's entry point into the craft beer world (it was mine).
It literally is the beer changed beer in the UK forever. I run www.craftmetropolis.co.uk and most of the hundreds of modern breweries wouldn't exist without it. I wouldn't be doing this without Brewdog and that beer! That said it's I think it's become a really poor beer in comparison to what it used to be now it's being made on such scale. Also, as has been already said, the company have some questionable working practices. Game changing beer and solid cheap supermarket choice but there's hundreds of more interesting beers being made out there if you want to start a new hobby!
We get patron boxes from Northern Monk and Thornbridge for the variety and then throw our net far and wide for other brewers. I do very much miss going to some of our favourite haunts with huge beer choice that you can just try and then quaff as you choose, but the deliveries have been a god send for us over the last 2 years. Found some really good new ones. Overtone have been a really good find, while Mad Squirrel and Vocation have been good regular staples.
Like most of Brewdog beers. Can get half a dozen different ones in most supermarkets now. Started to find vault city in Tesco which was a surprise.
I've become partial to Punk IPA. Never used to like it but I'm led to believe the recipe has changed a few times. It would generally be my drink of choice if it's on in a pub or for the very rare times I have a drink at home. I'm not really much of a connoisseur though. I'd pretty much drink owt
I did think it tasted a bit different as havent had it for a few years. Would probably get highwire grapefruit Magic Rock instead next time.
As a recent and unwilling newcomer to non alcoholic beer consumption I've found Punk AF the nearest to the real thing, so far - although Guinness 00 does a fair impression of the original. I'd appreciate any recommendations you guys might have for readily available IPA type alternatives.
My favourite 'regular' beer. By some distance. By 'regular' I mean I can walk into any Wetherspoons and it's on draught on the same set of pumps as Carling or Fosters. And it costs me three quid. There are lots of IPAs I prefer more, but for a cold glass of thirst quencher that I can get all over the place it's tip top and light years ahead of anything else that is regularly available.
