Unfortunately, that's not the first time in Harvey Weinstein country that a room full of actors saw someone being assaulted and nobody said or did anything.
the footage that I saw, cut to will smith laughing as chris rock made his GI Jane joke. Chris rock also looked to me like he was laughing as it happened, and seemed to take it very well. didn't strike me (no pun intended) as the reaction of someone who just got smacked on stage. this is the oscars. they're actors. obviously it might not have been staged at all. if it wasn't, and I was chris rock, I'd be pressing charges
Disagree. When people say racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic stuff then they aren't cancelled at all. There's just a realisation that said person is a complete cap end, and people then decide to not employ someone of that nature and consumers decide to not spend money on them either. 'Cancel Culture' is a just a buzz word used by weird political 'commentators' like Dan Wootton or Darren Grimes.
The footage straight after it, he's all over the place trying to do the link, making mistakes. Despite how it looked I'd be shocked if this was staged.
fair dos. tbf I didn't watch the whole thing. maybe I should have. either way, huge shame that coda has been overshadowed by this.
Couldn't disagree more. There's attempts to cancel people, attitudes, and all kinds of things, that aren't racist, homophobic, or transphobic - this is where sane people criticise the cancel culture we can sometimes find ourselves living in today. What you've described above has little relevance to the supposed buzz word because it isn't something that sane people have an issue with at all. Although I do think it's a bit of a leap when we go back tens of years to find an error of judgement someone once made, which might have little relevance to their feelings and behaviours today.
I'll leave it there, because I'm completely at the other end of the spectrum and find the term 'cancel culture' utterly laughable. Enjoy your sane day.
All seemed a bit odd as Smith was initially laughing at the joke. Maybe he needs to be sent to live with his Aunt and Uncle to get his life in order.
Half the Barnsley crowd be out of a job amount of abusive stuff I’ve heard aimed at Refs and opposition players in a world run by you
Why? if you start charging folk who hit back after being insulted courts would be overrun . Only thing he did wrong for me was doing it onstage rather than later. Too many smart arse ‘comedians’ think the can let their mouths run away with personal insults, with no repercussions. Pity nobody stuck one on the snide in chief Ricky Gervais.
If the crowd is racist, sexist, transphobic or homophobic then good. What is your issue with that? Do you like a bit of racism eh?
You got to stick up for wife thoughReminds me of the time went to races and our lass was watching race through binoculars and some lads on a trip pi55ed up were taking pi55 out of her for doing it, thought oh 5hit better do something or she will never let me forget it,fronted one of them out “don’t take piss out of our lass if she wants to watch race with binoculars” he goes “there’s a big screen to watch there””pointing to other side of track,”only wierdos would use binoculars “,we started pushing and shoving each other, race was going on and horses half way round, one of this kids mates goes “ just pack it in we missing race ,leave it “ luckily kid said “ok” and as the horses whizzed past post ,it looked like it was all calming down “ then our lass pipes up “ let’s go just ignore them there all knobheads anyway”,OMG it all kicked off again ,me again kid windmilling our lass swinging binoculars round like a maniac,to cut long story short we got chucked out by security and missed rest of race day
