OT EVs (I know it is done to death but coming from another angle).....

Dacia are where Hyundai & Kia were 20 years ago.
Not very well known (in terms of on road)but actually produce a decent vehicle for the money they cost.
As someone else pointed out they do lack a bit of quality and refinement but at the price something has to give.
As you say very good reports by industry experts and if the Korean cars are anything to go by will soon improve market standing.

I disagree with the plastic comments but not sure about the lower spec models. I'm glad you feel it is an accurate review of a car you've never seen or driven, though . And as for slow, my 1ltr bifuel can easily cope with 90mph on the motorway (not something i tend to do), so not sure how much faster you'd like to go with it.

I find it a bit odd that a guy on a forum is pleased to have ordered a new car and another guy replies saying how good it is sharing his experience of his new car that he's just spent £17.5k on, only for someone else who hasn't ever owned one to criticise it, even researching reviews online.

In certain situations it is sometimes best to keep your opinions to yourself. The above might be one of them.

 

The safety rating on the Duster is low because it doesn't have safety devices such as autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assist, while blind spot monitoring is only offered on the top-spec Prestige model.
It's not like it'll crumple if you tap a badger.....

 

Honestly, I hope the above comments haven't taken the shine off it for you. It is a fantastic car and I'm certain you will love it.

 

And as for top speed, probably going to become an irrelevance, as all new cars from July will be fitted with a 70mph speed limiter.....yes there'll be ways round it, but if u have an accident and it's then found, you're in a whole heap of brown stuff.
It's mid range overtaking that'll be more important, something EVs are quite good at.

It's for the missus and she loves it so that's all that matters, brownie points for me!

 

My missus is getting one too, so hopefully that shows how decent it is. The boot space was a big draw, given we have a newborn and prams are massive. Driving to France in it this year, looking forward to the road trip

 

I don't think he realises or intends it to come across as it does. I guess some people fail to gauge when to contribute and when perhaps it is better to keep quiet. It's a bit like hearing someone is excited to go to X place on holiday, only for someone else to chip in and say "oh my daughter went there and it was a bit of a dump" etc etc... you just don't do it! You appreciate that person is excited/ happy and don't piss on their bonfire.

 

I appreciate that I'm something of a dinosaur, but the day I need things like this in my car will be the day I hand back my driving licence.

 

Who is criticising it? My comments were objective both plus and minus points, and like I said, whilst I have not owned one my daughter has and as a passenger I can only agree with reviews I have read. I ignore Mansfield Red these days since he clearly has issues with me personally as he leaps into threads making personal posts directly or implied against me rather than adding to the topic. You get a 'good bang per buck' from the Dacia. there are very few if any, bad new cars cars on sale. Someone once asked what were the best cars made and some wise sage said " the latest". Each generation brings refinement and features to the poin where base models have standard fittings that were previously extras. Remember stick on heated rear windscreens. Fords pre Cortina even heaters were accessories and a basic 2 band radio was also an accessory. The last word in my post was ....Enjoy! And I meant it. Nothing like that new car smell!

I actually think some of the technology now is actually quite dangerous. I've had numerous instances where I've had to swerve on some of the more minor roads to avoid debris (and in one instance a cyclist on a bend) and lane assist has tried to force me from turning.

 

Personal jibe is massively stretching. It's a light hearted post which is apt in context and pretty funny (I think). And you've got far more previous with personal jibes than I have.

You've already told Marc he's speaking "utter nonsense" in this thread despite him having provided a fully costed illustration.

It's hilarious how those who give it out and are happy to speak of the "snowflake" generation tend to have the thinnest skin...

 

The Speed limiters will cause accidents. Overall it may reduce motorway serious crashes but in rare situations, and anyone who does a lot of mileage will understand, the idea that you are driving at 70 and need to accelerate rather than brake to avoid an incident but hit the gas and nothing happens is a bridge too far. However defensively you drive or however hard you try to anticipate other drivers actions you need to retain full control, especially as you wil be on the road with cars that are not speed limited.
